21. Methods and Applications in Comparative Bacterial Genomics
Abstract : Comparative studies of bacterial genomes, now counting in the hundreds, generate massive amounts of information. In order to support a systematic and efficient approach to genomic analyses, a database driven system with graphic visualization of genomic properties was developed - GenComp. READ MORE

22. Comparative genome and proteome analysis of brain tissue from MK-801-treated rats
Abstract : Symptoms of intoxication with non-competitive N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)-receptor antagonists, closely mimic symptoms in patients with schizophrenia, and therefore [+]-5-methyl-10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo-[a,d]-cycloheptene-5,10-iminehydrogen-maleate (MK-801, dizocilpine) treated rodents are often used as a model for schizophrenia. To investigate if administration of the NMDA receptor antagonist MK-801 to rats would induce messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) or protein disturbances mimicking those observed in schizophrenic patients, complementary deoxyribonucleic acid (cDNA) microarrays and two-dimensional gel-electrophoresis in combination with mass spectrometry were used, respectively. 23. Taking advantage of phylogenetic trees in comparative genomics
Abstract : Phylogenomics can be regarded as evolution and genomics in co-operation. Various kinds of evolutionary studies, gene family analysis among them, demand access to genome-scale datasets. But it is also clear that many genomics studies, such as assignment of gene function, are much improved by evolutionary analysis. READ MORE

24. Genomics of Plasmodiophora brassicae
Abstract : Plasmodiophora brassicae is a soil-borne pathogen that infects roots of plants in Brassicaceae and causes enlarged roots or clubs known as the clubroot disease. Details of its complex life cycle and particularly the molecular basis of its strategies to master defenses and alter metabolism of plant hosts are still largely unknown. READ MORE

25. Comparative Genomics of Obligate and Facultative Intracellular Parasites
Abstract : The α-proteobacteria Rickettsia prowazekii and Bartonella henselae are the causative agents of epidemic typhus and cat scratch disease respectively. Whereas R. prowazekii is an obligate intracellular parasite, B. henselae can live and proliferate both outside and inside the eukaryotic host cell. READ MORE
