  2. 2. Phase Equilibria and Structures of Oppositely Charged Polymers and Surfactants in Water

    University dissertation from Anna Svensson, Physical Chemistry 1, Center for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Lund University

    Author : Anna Svensson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self diffusion; PFG NMR; hexagonal; cubic Pm3n; liquid crystals; SAXS; polymer; counterion; complex; polyelectrolyte; surfactant; Monte Carlo simulations; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : A new approach to the study of aqueous mixtures of oppositely charged polymers and surfactants has been introduced. Pure polyion-surfactant ion complex salts have been synthesized and used as the point of departure. The elimination of the simple ions reduces the number of components in the mixtures, thus greatly simplifying the system. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mixture Effects of Environmental Contaminants

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Erik Lampa; Uppsala universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mixtures; Environmental Contaminants; Atherosclerosis; Metabolic Syndrome; Boosting; Epidemiology;

    Abstract : Chemical exposure in humans rarely consists of a single chemical. The everyday exposure is characterized by thousands of chemicals mainly present at low levels. Despite that fact, risk assessment of chemicals is carried out on a chemical-by-chemical basis although there is a consensus that this view is too simplistic. READ MORE

  4. 4. Perceptual integration of odor mixtures

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Clinical Neuroscience

    Author : Malin Schütze; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Virtually all perceptions of environmental odors are based on an integration process of many volatile components, in many cases hundreds of components. By investigating the perceptual dimensions in this perceptual integration process and how it is affected by the neurophysiology of the olfactory system we can begin to understand the nature of complex odor perception. 5. 5. On Toxicant-Induced Succession in Periphyton Communities: Effects of Single Chemicals and Chemical Mixtures

    University dissertation from Göteborg : University of Gothenburg

    Author : Tobias Porsbring; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; community ecotoxicology; toxicant-induced succession; chemical mixtures; concentration addition; independent action; diatoms; periphyton; algal pigments; algal sterols;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the effects of single chemicals and chemical mixtures on biological communities. Ecosystems are exposed to complex mixtures of chemicals, and because combination effects can occ... READ MORE
