  1. 1. Mass Transport through Phase Separated Films - Effects of Ethyl Cellulose Molecular Weight on Cellulose Derivative Blends for Pharmaceutical Coatings

    Author : Helene Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Coating; Ethyl cellulose; Diffusion; Mass transport; Solvent evaporation; Molecular weight; Phase separation; Film; Hydroxypropyl cellulose; Polymer blend; Cellulose derivatives; Controlled release;

    Abstract : Polymer blends are utilized for a variety of applications, not least in pharmaceutical coatings for controlled release of drugs. For instance, blends of ethyl cellulose (EC) and the water-soluble hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) can be used to coat drug pellets for oral extendedrelease formulations. READ MORE

  2. 2. Heterogeneous deformation of multi-phase engineering materials - an in-situ neutron diffraction study

    Author : Nitesh Raj Jaladurgam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Eutectic high entropy alloys; in-situ neutron diffraction; Deformation mechanisms; Superalloys; Electron microscopy;

    Abstract : Gas turbines are complex power generation systems used in aerospace or land-based-power stations. Materials such as Ni-base superalloys are involved in the combustion zone of these machines, which continuously experiences harsh environments with loading at high temperatures. READ MORE

  3. 3. Neutron scattering for sustainable energy materials: investigations of proton dynamics in acceptor doped barium zirconates

    Author : Daria Noferini; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; neutron scattering; fuel cells; QENS; Proton conductors; perovskites; proton dynamics; energy materials;

    Abstract : Proton conducting oxides are currently receiving considerable attention for their present or potential use as electrolytes in technological devices such as sensors and electrolysers and, in particular, solid oxide fuel cells, which are among the most promising apparatuses for energy conversion. One of the main challenges for these latter devices is to combine the advantages of a solid electrolyte with those of operational temperatures below 750 °C, which is currently hampered by insufficient conductivities in the targeted temperature range. Abstract : In this thesis nanocomposite materials for use in high performance electrical contacts are tested. Self mating silver as coatings on cupper substrates are the most used material combination in power connectors today. In this work two new concepts were tested. READ MORE

  5. 5. High Temperature Corrosion of FeCrAl Alloys in Biomass- and Waste-fired Boilers - The Influence of Alloying Elements in Prediction and Mitigation of Corrosion in Harsh Environments

    Author : Johan Eklund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Overlay Welding; Waste; High Temperature Corrosion; Silicon; FeCrAl alloys; Breakaway Oxidation; Biomass; HVAF; Coatings;

    Abstract : Combustion of biomass and waste for heat and power production is an alternative to fossil fuels and can be an important step towards a more sustainable future. The electrical efficiency of the fuel-to-energy conversion process is largely dependent on the steam parameters (temperature and pressure) of the combined heat and power (CHP) plants. READ MORE
