  1. 21. Modelling Techniques for Large-Eddy Simulation of Wall-Bounded Turbulent Flows

    Author : Timofey Mukha; Mattias Liefvendahl; Hrvoje Jasak; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wall modelling; Inflow generation; Large-eddy simulation; OpenFOAM; Computational fluid dynamics; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap;

    Abstract : Large-eddy simulation (LES) is a highly accurate turbulence modelling approach in which a wide range of spatial and temporal scales of the flow are resolved. However, LES becomes prohibitively computationally expensive when applied to wall-bounded flows at high Reynolds numbers, which are typical of many industrial applications. READ MORE

  2. 22. Symplectic methods for isospectral flows and 2D ideal hydrodynamics

    Author : Milo Viviani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Symplectic methods; Fluid dynamics; Integrability theory; Euler equations; Lie--Possion systems; Isospectral flows; Geometric integration; Structure preserving algorithms; Hamiltonian systems;

    Abstract : The numerical solution of non-canonical Hamiltonian systems is an active and still growing field of research. At the present time, the biggest challenges concern the realization of structure preserving algorithms for differential equations on infinite dimensional manifolds. READ MORE

  3. 23. Modelling of Moving Contact Lines in Two-Phase Flows

    Author : Hanna Holmgren; Gunilla Kreiss; Stefan Turek; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computational fluid dynamics; Two-phase flow; Contact lines; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap;

    Abstract : Moving contact line problems appear in many natural and industrial processes. A contact line is formed where the interface between two immiscible fluids meets a solid wall. Examples from everyday life include raindrops falling on a window and water bugs resting on water surfaces. READ MORE

  4. 24. Convergence Acceleration for Flow Problems

    Author : Henrik Brandén; Sverker Holmgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computational fluid dynamics; convergence acceleration; semicirculant preconditioning; fundamental solutions; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : Convergence acceleration techniques for the iterative solution of system of equations arising in the discretisations of compressible flow problems governed by the steady state Euler or Navier-Stokes equations is considered. The system of PDE is discretised using a finite difference or finite volume method yielding a large sparse system of equations. READ MORE
