1. Searches for Particle Dark Matter : Dark stars, dark galaxies, dark halos and global supersymmetric fits
Abstract : The identity of dark matter is one of the key outstanding problems in both particle and astrophysics. In this thesis, I describe a number of complementary searches for particle dark matter. READ MORE

2. Mesoscopic thin film superconductors - A computational framework
Abstract : Motivated by experiments on superconductors in the microscopic regime and the realization of small superconducting devices such as qubits, we initiate a computational project in the form of a numerical simulation package to model and predict the behavior of these type of systems. It is a multidisciplinary endeavor in that it employs theory, computational science, software design, and to some extent new visualization techniques. READ MORE

3. Exploring patterns of empirical networks
Abstract : We are constantly struggling to understand how nature works, trying to identify recurrent events and looking for analogies and relations between objects or individuals. Knowing patterns of behavior is powerful and fundamental for survival of any species. READ MORE

4. Triptych of quantum matter in one dimension : Playful constructions in theoretical and computational physics
Abstract : In this compilation thesis, three different quantum mechanical systems are presented. All three have in common that they are one-dimensional quantum systems which, each in their own way, can be seen as analogous to other quantum systems. READ MORE

5. Neural Networks Applications and Electronics Development for Nuclear Fusion Neutron Diagnostics
Abstract : This thesis describes the development of electronic modules for fusion neutron spectroscopy as well as several implementations of artificial neural networks (NN) for neutron diagnostics for the Joint European Torus (JET) experimental reactor in England. The electronics projects include the development of two fast light pulser modules based on Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) for the calibration and stability monitoring of two neutron spectrometers (MPRu and TOFOR) at JET.
