  1. 11. Method Development for Computer Aided Engineering for Aircraft Conceptual Design

    Author : Adrien Bérard; Arthur Rizzi; Dieter Scholz; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aircraft conceptual design; Computer Aided Design CAD ; buffet onset; unsteady vortex-lattice method; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the work done to implement new computational tools and methods dedicated to aircraft conceptual design sizing and optimization. These tools have been exercised on different aircraft concepts in order to validate them and assess their relevance and applicability to practical cases. READ MORE

  2. 12. Hardware design as a basis for functional product development

    Author : Magnus Löfstrand; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Functional Products; Product Development; Engineering Design; Collaborative Design; Computer Aided Design;

    Abstract : The business environment in manufacturing industry is changing from a hardware based product focus to a process and function focus. A current industrial interest is the development and sale of functions. This function could be realised as a product based on hardware, software and services and may be sold as a function rather than as hardware. READ MORE

  3. 13. Quasi-analytical Modelling and Optimisation Techniques for Transport Aircraft Design

    Author : Askin T. Isikveren; KTH; []
    Keywords : aircraft; conceptual; design; specifications; atmosphere; geometry; weight; aerodyanmics; propulsion; operational performance; stability and control; constrained multi-objective optimisation; computer aided design; regional; business; high-transonic; ;

    Abstract : The research work presented here focuses on the subject oftransport aircraft design at the pre-design or conceptuallevel. The primary topics addressed are: (1) generation of avast array of new quasi-analytical expressions to permit aconceptual treatment of commercial and business transportaircraft with adequate sensitivity for more advanced tradestudies; (2) review and adoption of a method to predictstability and control characteristics (using the Mitchellmethod); (3) a study of the relative merits between variousmethods in facilitating an expedient and robust constrainedmulti-objective optimisation result within the context oftraditional conceptual design problems (Genetic Algorithms andNelder-Mead Simplex search); (4) creation of a software packageas a new and unique conceptual tool that permits the generationof design proposals in an accurate yet expeditious manner; and,(5) practical demonstration of the new conceptual designsoftware package by undertaking some actual aircraft designproposals. 4. 14. Re-defining the Problem in Technology Aided Epidemic Prevention : from contact tracing to behavioral design

    Author : My Villius Zetterholm; Päivi Jokela; Lena-Maria Öberg; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; behavioral design; COVID-19; contact tracing apps; epidemic; mobile technologies; social distancing; nudge technologies; proximity tracking; technology acceptance; Informatik; Information Systems;

    Abstract : In this work, the Covid-19 pandemic provides the context for exploring the emerging field of mobile technologies for disease prevention and tracking during epidemics and pandemics. Knowledge on how to design and utilize these types of digital preventive technologies and how to gain public acceptance is still limited. READ MORE

  5. 15. Computer integrated design systems in concurrent engineering

    Author : Peter Jeppsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion; Computer Aided Design;

    Abstract : This thesis comprises six papers dealing with implementations and techniques for linking computer-aided applications for design and analysis into a concurrent engineering environment. Each paper deals with a part of the environment - together they constitute an integrated design system for concurrent engineering. READ MORE
