  1. 1. Computer Aided Angioplasty : Patient-specific arterial modeling and smooth 3D contact analysis of the stent-balloon-artery interaction

    Author : Dimitrios Kiousis; Gerhard Holzapfel; Kenneth Runesson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contact; continuous surfaces; B-splines; balloon angioplasty; stenting; FEM; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : Paper A: In this paper, the development and implementation of a contact algorithm based on C2-continuous surface representations is discussed. In 3D contact simulations involving models with arbitrarily curved surfaces (as in the case of vessel walls), the discretization of the contact surfaces by means of facet-based techniques could lead to numerical instabilities and finally loss of quadratic convergence. 3. 3. Design for manufacturing : methods and applications using knowledge engineering

    Author : Marcus Sandberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Funktionella produkter; Functional Product Development;

    Abstract : As companies strive to develop artefacts intended for services instead of traditional sell-off, new challenges in the product development process arise to promote continuous improvement and increasing market profits. This creates a focus on product life-cycle components as companies then make life-cycle commitments, where they are responsible for the function availability during the extent of the life-cycle, i. 4. 4. A computer-aided approach to design of robust analog circuits

    Author : Emil Hjalmarson; Georges G.E. Gielen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Analog circuit design; computer-aided design; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Abstract : Traditional design methods for analog circuits are based on rules-of-thumbs, experience, and trial-and-error approaches involving the use of circuit simulators. It is an unstructured process, which is time-consuming, error prone, and requires the attention of a skilled analog designer. READ MORE

  5. 5. Computational modelling of rail manufacturing

    Author : Torbjörn Lindbäck; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computer Aided Design; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : The thesis deals with simulation of rail manufacturing. During the manufacturing process residual stresses arise in the rail, primarily due to cooling and straightening. These stresses can affect product performance, for example fatigue characteristics. Therefore it would be desirable to be able to predict these in an efficient way. READ MORE
