  1. 1. Computer-assisted surgery in children

    Author : Magnus Anderberg; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; minimally invasive; learning curve; laparoscopy; fundoplication; da Vinci® Surgical System; costs; Children; computer-assisted; paediatric surgery; robot; robotic surgery;

    Abstract : Although positive in terms of patient trauma and recovery time, minimally invasive surgery has several technical drawbacks compared with open surgery. The new da Vinci® Surgical System from Intuitive Surgical® offers technical innovations aiming at overcoming these drawbacks and at improving the surgeon’s operating skills, such as the improved 3-D vision, tremor reduction and flexible instruments with a more natural and intuitive range of motion. 2. 2. Computer Assisted Video Microscopy : in Characterization of Capillary Ensembles

    Author : Claes Asker; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : computer assisted video microscopy; capillary loops; capillary ensembles; skin microcirculation; triangulation; nearest neighbour; MEDICINE;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on evaluation and analysis of capillary microcirculatory changes in the skin, that can be improved and extended by computer assisted video microscopy. Capillary microscopy has been used extensively, both in clinical practice and research, to study different phenomena in the microvasculature of the skin, mainly in the nailfold of fingers and toes where a large portion of the capillary loop can be observed. 3. 3. Developing educational computer-assisted simulations : Exploring a new approach to researching learning in collaborative health care simulation contexts

    Author : Lars O. Häll; Tor Söderström; Limin Gu; Patrik Hernwall; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; education; computer simulation; collaboration; health care; context; design; ecology of resources.; pedagogik; Education;

    Abstract : Health care education is developing and simulations, in different guises, are gaining increasing attention as a means of overcoming tensions between instructional models and educational objectives. The role of simulations is, however, yet to be fully defined and will be dependent on the actual impact simulations on educational practice. READ MORE

  4. 4. Computer assisted evaluation of gas sensors : theory and applications

    Author : Dennis Söderberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The application of a low cost computer as program control in a laboratory experimental situation is valuable for the evaluation of a complex measurement problem. The first step in a computer assisted evaluation is to design the experimental methods and construct the apparatus. READ MORE

  5. 5. Computer-Assisted  Coronary  CT  Angiography  Analysis : From  Software  Development  to  Clinical  Application

    Author : Chunliang Wang; Örjan Smedby; Anders Persson; Hans Frimmel; Evert-jan Vonken; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vessel segmentation; coronary CTA; fuzzy connectedness; level set; coronary artery disease; Image analysis; Bildanalys; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : Advances in coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) have resulted in a boost in the use of this new technique in recent years, creating a challenge for radiologists due to the increasing number of exams and the large amount of data for each patient. The main goal of this study was to develop a computer tool to facilitate coronary CTA analysis by combining knowledge of medicine and image processing, and to evaluate the performance in clinical settings.
