  1. 1. Photochemical Surface Functionalization : Synthesis, Nanochemistry and Glycobiological Studies

    Author : Lingquan Deng; Olof Ramström; Javier Rojo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrates; Glycobiology; Carbohydrate-protein interactions; Perfluorophenylazide PFPA ; Photochemistry; Carbohydrate surface immobilization; Carbohydrate microarrays; Surface plasmon resonance SPR ; Quartz crystal microbalance QCM ; Atomic force microscopy AFM ; Glyconanomaterials; Concanavalin A Con A ; Cyanovirin-N CV-N ; 1-Glycosyl thiols; Mutarotation; 1-S-glycosylation; Stereocontrol;

    Abstract : This thesis mainly deals with the development of photochemical approaches to immobilize carbohydrates on surfaces for glycobiological studies. These approaches have been incorporated into a number of state-of-the-art nanobio-platforms, including carbohydrate microarrays, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and glyconanomaterials. 2. 2. Development of Capacitive Biosensors for Monitoring of Bacterial Toxins and Other Biomolecules

    Author : Mahmoud Labib; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; self-assembled monolayers; competitive capacitive biosensing; cholera toxin; Capacitive biosensor; surface plasmon resonance; staphylococcal enterotoxin B; nanogold; human immunoglobulin G; glucose;

    Abstract : Sensing and quantification of biomolecules are becoming increasingly important in medical diagnostics, bioprocess technology and recently in homeland security. The majority of techniques currently employed to interrogate biomolecules require some type of radio-, enzymatic- or fluorescent-labeling. READ MORE

  3. 3. Anti-tumour effect in solid tumours, tolerance and immune reconstition after allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation

    Author : Patrik Hentschke; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Both in haematological malignancies and in disseminated solid tumours, re-occurrence of the underlying disease is the main complication. Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) increases the chance of cure compared to only chemotherapy in haematological malignancies, but adds the risk of immunological complications such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and severe infections.
