16. Biosensing platforms using graphene based bioreactive nanostructures with various dimensions
Abstract : Nanomaterials have brought new aspects and improvements to the biosensing field due to their unique physical and chemical properties that are not shown in the bulk state. This thesis focuses on concepting, developing and testing of biosensors where nanomaterials including graphene gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) constitute the biosensors. 17. Anti-tumour effect in solid tumours, tolerance and immune reconstition after allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation
Abstract : Both in haematological malignancies and in disseminated solid tumours, re-occurrence of the underlying disease is the main complication. Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) increases the chance of cure compared to only chemotherapy in haematological malignancies, but adds the risk of immunological complications such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and severe infections. 18. Recognition requirements and regulatory events directing T cell responses
Abstract : The present study has considered cellular and molecular requirements in T cell responses. The central role of T cell growth factors (TCGF) in T cell responses prompted us to study the regulatory events directing TCGF production in lectin stimulated cultures. READ MORE

19. Immunomodulatory Properties of 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate
Abstract : Immunomodulatory Properties of 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate Jennie Andersson Department of Oral Microbiology and Immunology, Institute of Odontology, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg Professionals working in dentistry have reported adverse effects, such as allergic contact dermatitis, following exposure to 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA). Furthermore unpolymerized HEMA monomers leaking from cured fillings can reach the dental pulp, where HEMA could come into contact with leukocytes. READ MORE

20. Chemical Modification of Nanostructured Wood for Functional Biocomposites
Abstract : Recently emerged top-down processing concept has provided new insights into the chemical modification of wood at the nanoscale. Nanostructured wood with naturally aligned cellulose microfibrils, cell wall nanoporosity, and precisely tuned chemical composition has opened up numerous possibilities for advanced design of functional materials.
