1. Data driven modeling in the presence of time series structure: : Improved bounds and effective algorithms
Abstract : This thesis consists of five appended papers devoted to modeling tasks where the desired models are learned from data sets with an underlying time series structure. We develop a statistical methodology for providing efficient estimators and analyzing their non-asymptotic behavior. READ MORE

2. A Programming Language for Data Privacy with Accuracy Estimations
Abstract : Differential privacy offers a formal framework for reasoning about the privacy and accuracy of computations on private data. It also offers a rich set of building blocks for constructing private data analyses. READ MORE

3. Language-Based Differential Privacy with Accuracy Estimations and Sensitivity Analyses
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the development of programming frameworks to enforce, by construction, desirable properties of software systems. Particularly, we are interested in enforcing differential privacy -- a mathematical notion of data privacy -- while statically reasoning about the accuracy of computations, along with deriving the sensitivity of arbitrary functions to further strengthen the expressiveness of these systems. 4. Entropy and Speech
Abstract : In this thesis, we study the representation of speech signals and the estimation of information-theoretical measures from observations containing features of the speech signal. The main body of the thesis consists of four research papers. Paper A presents a compact representation of the speech signal that facilitates perfect reconstruction. READ MORE

5. Internal oxidation processing : New alloys and new simulation techniques
Abstract : Nitriding and oxidising treatments of alloys for toolingpurposes have been investigated both experimentally andtheoretically. Specimens prepared by a combination of differentprocessing steps are investigated by light-optical, scanningand transmission electron microscopy and hardness measurments. READ MORE
