  1. 16. Follow-up of adults with congenitally malformed hearts with focus on individualised and computer-based education and psychosocial support : A descriptive and interventional study

    Author : Helén Rönning; Eva Swahn; Anna Strömberg; Niels Erik Nielsen; Peter Eriksson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Congenital heart disease; education; information; instrument development; multidisciplinary team; nursing; phenomenography; psychometrics; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Background and aims: Many adults with congenitally malformed hearts are at risk for complications such as decreased function and capacity of the heart due to the heart defect and previously surgery. This advocates self-management behaviours related to medical treatments, physical activity, preventions of endocarditis, some restrictions regarding suitable employment and spare time activities, birth control and pregnancy, but also lifestyle concerns such as refraining from smoking and healthy eating. 2. 17. Reconstruction of the RVOT with a conduit: Lifetime follow up

    Abstract : Background: The use of a conduit is an established surgical method for reconstruction of the right ventricular outflow tract in congenital heart disease. The most commonly used conduit is a homograft. Its limited durability makes reinterventions almost inevitable but the actual durability of a conduit in the adult population is poorly described. Abstract : Congenital malformations are important causes of perinatal mortality and morbidity, and around 4% of children are diagnosed with a malformation during their first year of life. Despite improved surgical treatment, several malformations are associated with lifelong sequelae requiring specialized health care. READ MORE
