  1. 11. Multiscale Constitutive Modeling of Heterogeneous Engineering Materials

    Author : Johan Jansson; Kent Salomonsson; Jakob Olofsson; Julian J. Rimoli; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This work deals with different methods used to determine heterogeneous constitutive model parameters for macro-scale finite element models, based on microstructural variations, caused by the manufacturing process. These methods could be applied to decrease modeling errors associated with the material behavior, improving the predictive capabilities of structural analyses in simulation-driven industrial product development. 2. 12. Constitutive modeling of a nickel base superalloy : with a focus on gas turbine applications

    Author : Per Almroth; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Gas turbines are used where large amounts of energy is needed, typically as engines in aircraft, ferries and power plants. From an efficiency point of view it is desirable to increase the service temperature as much as possible. READ MORE

  3. 13. On multiscale modeling of pearlitic steel

    Author : Erik Lindfeldt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cementite; crystal plasticity; Pearlite; multiscale modeling; computational homogenization; digital image correlation; ferrite; in-situ SEM;

    Abstract : By studying pearlitic steels using a scanning electron microscope it can be observed that pearlite is a two-phase material with cementite lamellae embedded in a matrix of ferrite. The cementite is commonly described as being stiff and brittle in comparison to the ferrite which is considered to have a soft and ductile mechanical behavior. READ MORE

  4. 14. Computational modeling of polycrystals using gradient crystal plasticity

    Author : Mikkel Grymer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; parallel algorithms; crystal plasticity; dual mixed finite element method; gradient hardening; grain modeling;

    Abstract : This thesis treats the modeling of grain size dependence inmicrostructure models of metals. It is shown how gradient hardening, in a thermodynamically consistent fashion, can be included into a crystal plasticity model, which is used as the constitutive model in each grain of the polycrystal. 5. 15. Mathematical Modeling of Biofilms: Theory, Numerics and Applications

    Author : Erik Alpkvist; Matematik LTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mathematical modeling; Mathematics; conservation laws; biofilm; Matematik;

    Abstract : A biofilm is a complex and diverse aggregation of microorganisms at surface comprised of among different things a protective adhesive matrix of extracellular polymeric substance. Biofilm research represents a broad range of sciences joining efforts within an interdisciplinary field of research. READ MORE
