16. Development and evaluation of methods for control and modelling of multiple-input multiple-output systems
Abstract : In control, a common type of system is the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where the same input may affect multiple outputs, or conversely, the same output is affected by multiple inputs. In this thesis two methods for controlling MIMO systems are examined, namely linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control and decentralized control, and some of the difficulties associated with them. 17. Transportation Mission-Based Optimization of Heavy Combination Road Vehicles and Distributed Propulsion, Including Predictive Energy and Motion Control
Abstract : This thesis proposes methodologies to improve heavy vehicle design by reducing the total cost of ownership and by increasing energy efficiency and safety. Environmental issues, consumers expectations and the growing demand for freight transport have created a competitive environment in providing better transportation solutions. READ MORE

18. Fundamental Limitations of Distributed Feedback Control in Large-Scale Networks
Abstract : Networked systems accomplish global behaviors through local feedback interactions. The purpose of a distributed control design is to select interaction rules and control protocols that achieve desired global control objectives. READ MORE

19. Harvesting Based Communications for Wireless Control Systems : Event-Trigger and Reinforcement Learning Based Transmission Policies
Abstract : Wireless control systems have gained considerable attention in recent years due to their numerous advantages, including increased flexibility and scalability, reduced wiring complexity, and cost-efficiency. Despite these benefits, the use of communication networks in control loops poses various challenges, such as sampled data, latency, packet dropouts, etc. READ MORE

20. Estimation and Control of Resonant Systems with Stochastic Disturbances
Abstract : The presence of vibration is an important problem in many engineering applications. Various passive techniques have traditionally been used in order to reduce waves and vibrations, and their harmful effects. Passive techniques are, however, difficult to apply in the low frequency region. READ MORE
