11. Essays on Field Experiments and Impact Evaluation
Abstract : Paper 1: Improving Welfare Through Climate-Friendly Agriculture: The Case of the System of Rice Intensification We use rich survey data to investigate the economic impact of a climate-friendly rice farming method known as the system of rice intensification (SRI) on the welfare of rain-dependent small-holder farmers in Tanzania. SRI reduces water consumption by half, which makes it a promising farming system in the adaptation to climate change in moisture constrained areas, and it does not require flooding of rice fields, resulting in reduced methane emissions. 12. Spatial and temporal aspects of intense attosecond pulses for pump-probe experiments
Abstract : Nuclear and electronic dynamics in atoms and molecules are the foundation of many physical processes and chemical reactions. Often, these dynamics take place on timescales so much shorter than those commonly encountered that they are called ultrafast. READ MORE

13. Experiment Design for Closed-loop System Identification with Applications in Model Predictive Control and Occupancy Estimation
Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to develop algorithms for application-oriented input design. This procedure takes the model application into account when designing experiments for system identification. This thesis is divided into two parts. READ MORE

14. On Application Oriented Experiment Design for Closed-loop System Identification
Abstract : System identification concerns how to construct mathematical models of dynamic systems based on experimental data. A very important application of system identification is in model-based control design. In such applications it is often possible to externally excite the system during the data collection experiment. READ MORE

15. Turbo Charged Low Temperature Combustion - Experiments, Modeling and Control
Abstract : Both the global economy and the society in general are dependent on the availability of reliable transportation. Most transportation technology involves the use of internal combustion engines in one way or another. READ MORE
