  1. 6. Essays on antibiotics use: Nudges, preferences & welfare benefits

    Author : Linnea Wickström Östervall; Jakob Svensson; Astri Muren; Kjetil Bjorvatn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; field experiment; nudge; reminder; common resources; antibiotics use; resistance; altruism; other-regarding preferences; time preferences; social security; temporary parental leave; natural experiment; Economics; nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : The stock of effective antibiotics can be seen as a common resource. Depletion of this potentially renewable, but currently finite, resource through the development of resistance poses an important policy problem. Prudent use can delay the spread of resistance. It is hence interesting to study factors that affect use and overuse of antibiotics. READ MORE

  2. 7. MODELING AND OPTIMIZATION OF WASHING MACHINE VIBRATION DYNAMICS DURING SPINNING

    Author : Thomas Nygårds; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Semi-active control; Vibration dynamics; Experiment; Washing machine; Modeling; Optimization; Magnetorheological damper.; Suspension system; Spinning;

    Abstract : A washing machine as a product is familiar to almost everyone in all developed countries. Thisthesis deals with the dynamics of modern washing machines of household type. READ MORE

  3. 8. Poly(Lactide-co-Glycolide) in Controlled-Release Pharmaceuticals - Release Mechanisms

    Author : Susanne Fredenberg; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PLGA; Poly lactide-co-glycolide ; Release mechanism; Diffusion; Controlled Release; Degradation; Protein;

    Abstract : Controlled-release formulations reduce the frequency of injections and better maintain plasma concentrations within the therapeutic window. Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLG) is currently the most frequently used biodegradable polymer for this application. READ MORE

  4. 9. Experimental, petrological and geochemical investigations of ikaite (CaCO3·6H2O) formation in marine environments

    Author : Elin Tollefsen; Alasdair Skelton; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Erik Sturkell; Andrew Putnis; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ikaite; petrology; experiment; geochemistry; marine environments; pseudomorphs; calcium carbonate; Ikka Fjord; glendonite; nepheline; siderite; paleotemperature; carbonatite; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : Carbonates are a group of minerals that play an essential role in several processes on planet Earth, for example in the global carbon cycle and as a product of biomineralisation. Calcite (CaCO3) is by far the most common mineral in the carbonate group, and the stable form of carbonate at Earth surface conditions. READ MORE

  5. 10. Towards Next-Gen Machine Learning Asset Management Tools

    Author : Samuel Idowu; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Machine Learning; Experiment Management; Experiment management tools; Asset Management; Asset Management Tools; Tools; ML Asset Taxonomy;

    Abstract : Context: The proficiency of machine learning (ML) systems in solving many real-world problems effectively has enabled a paradigm shift toward ML-enabled systems. In ML-enabled software, significant software code artifacts (i.e., assets) are replaced by ML-related assets, introducing multiple system development and production challenges. READ MORE
