1. New Results on Combinatorial Algorithms
Abstract : In this thesis improved upper bounds for several important combinatorial problems are provided. Below is a list of the main results showed in the thesis. The problem of determining whether a k-connected partial k-tree is isomorphic to subgraph of another partial k-tree is shown to be solvable in time O(nk+2). READ MORE

2. The effect of surface morphology on bed particle layer characteristics in fluidized bed combustion and gasification of woody biomass
Abstract : A critical process phenomenon in fluidized bed combustion and gasification is the bed particle layer formation which might be problematic in cases where it instigates bed agglomeration and bed material deposition or could improve the process performance in cases where it has a positive effect on tar reduction in biomass gasification. The interactions between ash forming matter for a wide variety of wood-derived fuels with different types of bed materials in fluidized bed combustion and gasification have been profusely studied, and the underlying mechanism of bed particle layer formation has been suggested. 3. Distributed resource allocation in networked systems using decomposition techniques
Abstract : The Internet and power distribution grids are examples of ubiquitous systems that are composed of subsystems that cooperate using a communication network. We loosely define such systems as networked systems. These systems are usually designed by using trial and error. READ MORE

4. Cross-layer optimization of wireless multi-hop networks
Abstract : The interest in wireless communications has grown constantly for the past decades, leading to an enormous number of applications and services embraced by billions of users. In order to meet the increasing demand for mobile Internet access, several high data-rate radio networking technologies have been proposed to offer wide area high-speed wireless communications, eventually replacing fixed (wired) networks for many applications. 5. Control over Low-Rate Noisy Channels
Abstract : Networked embedded control systems are present almost everywhere. A recent trendis to introduce radio communication in these systems to increase mobility and flex-ibility. READ MORE
