  1. 1. Prediction of Cooling Air Flow in Electric Generators

    Author : Pirooz Moradnia; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; Multiple Reference Frame; PIV; Total Pressure Measurements; Electric Generator; Experimental Measurements; 5-hole Pressure Probe Measurements; Flow Prediction; OpenFOAM;

    Abstract : The cooling air flow in hydro power electric generators is investigated experimentally and numerically. A fully predictive numerical approach is presented and validated, in which the inlet and outlet boundaries are eliminated from the computational domain. READ MORE

  2. 2. Investigation of Rear-Mounted Cooling Module Installations for Heavy Vehicles

    Author : Lisa Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cooling package; Aerodynamics; Heat transfer; CFD;

    Abstract : Due to stricter emissions legislations and increasing fuel prices vehicle efficiency must be improved. A trend that has been seen during recent years is increased engine power for many vehicle segments. Different exhaust gas after-treatment systems have also been introduced to be able to meet the emission demands. READ MORE

  3. 3. Numerical and Experimental Investigations of Design Parameters Defining Gas Turbine Nozzle Guide Vane Endwall Heat Transfer

    Author : Frank G. Rubensdörffer; Torsten Fransson; Albin Bölcs; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbomachinery; secondary flow; endwall heat transfer; linear cascade test facility; CFD; RANS; V2F turbulence model; combustion chamber nozzle guide vane interface; heat shield; cavity; cooling air; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Abstract : The primary requirements for a modern industrial gas turbine consist of a continuous trend of an increasing efficiency combined with very low emissions in a robust, cost-effective manner. To fulfil these tasks a high turbine inlet temperature together with advanced dry low NOX combustion chambers are employed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Experimental and numerical study of the thermal and hydraulic effect of EMC screens in radio base stations : detailed and compact models

    Author : Raúl Antón Remírez; Björn Palm; Masud Behnia; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sub-rack; perforated plate; air cooling; 90 degrees turn; flow deistribution; CFD; measurement; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Abstract : Today’s telecommunication cabinets use Electro Magnetic Compliance (EMC) screens in order to reduce electromagnetic noise that can cause some miss functions in electronic equipment. Many radio base stations (RBSs) use a 90-degree building architecture: the flow inlet is perpendicular to the EMC screen, which creates a complex flow, with a 90-degree air turn, expansions, compressions, perforated plates and PCBs. 5. 5. Development of a Test Environment for Air Intake Aerodynamics of Road Vehicles

    Author : Lasse Malmkjaer Christoffersen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; radiator model.; wind tunnel; erodynamics; reynolds effects;

    Abstract : In the past years work on aerodynamics of road vehicles, the focus has mainly been on shaping the exterior. Recently, however, the focus has shifted towards an optimization of details. One such detail is the air intake for the cooling system. READ MORE
