  1. 21. Coupled Simulations of Cooling and Engine Systems for Unsteady Analysis of the Benefits of Thermal Engine Encapsulation

    Author : Blago Minovski; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Oil system; Cooling system; Drive cycle; CFD simulations; Fuel consumption; Engine encapsulation; 1D simulations;

    Abstract : A well-designed engine encapsulation can extend engine cool-down time significantly - on the order of 500 - 700%. This is expected to have a sensitive influence on the fuel consumption due to the increased probability for high oil temperatures at the following engine start, reduced length of the initial warm-up period and consequently, reduced friction losses. 2. 22. Experimental and numerical study of the thermal and hydraulic effect of EMC screens in radio base stations : detailed and compact models

    Author : Raúl Antón Remírez; Björn Palm; Masud Behnia; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sub-rack; perforated plate; air cooling; 90 degrees turn; flow deistribution; CFD; measurement; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Abstract : Today’s telecommunication cabinets use Electro Magnetic Compliance (EMC) screens in order to reduce electromagnetic noise that can cause some miss functions in electronic equipment. Many radio base stations (RBSs) use a 90-degree building architecture: the flow inlet is perpendicular to the EMC screen, which creates a complex flow, with a 90-degree air turn, expansions, compressions, perforated plates and PCBs. 3. 23. Effect of austenitising temperature and cooling rate on microstructures of hot-work tool steels

    Author : María Teresa Coll Ferrari; Leif Karlsson; Hans-Olof Andrén; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tool steel; Heat Treatment; Austenitising Temperature; Large Tools; Tempering Carbides; Bainitic Microstructures; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : The average size of hot-work tools has gradually increased over the past years.This affects the effective temperature cycle tools experience during hardening,as large dimensions prevent uniform and rapid cooling, and thereby the resulting microstructures and properties. READ MORE

  4. 24. Electron beam-powder bed fusion of Alloy 718 : Effect of process parameters on microstructure evolution

    Author : Paria Karimi Neghlani; Joel Andersson; Joakim Ålgårdh; Iain Todd; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Additive manufacturing; Electron beam-powder bed fusion; Microstructure evolution; Microstructure tailoring; Process understanding; Alloy 718; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) is the technology of building 3D parts through layer-by-layer addition of material. Of the different types of AM techniques, electron beam-powder bed fusion (EB-PBF) has been used in this study. EB-PBF can build parts by melting metallic powders using an electron beam as the energy source. READ MORE

  5. 25. Effect of high-pressure cooling on the residual stress in Ti-alloys during machining

    Author : Manouchehr Vosough; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : Titanium alloys are widely used in aerospace industry but also in other industry sectors. Details for compressors used for generation and petrochemical plants and medical devices can be mentioned as a few examples. Plastic deformation during forming of the metals introduces residual stresses. READ MORE
