  1. 6. As-cast AZ91D Magnesium Alloy Properties- Effect of Microstructure and Temperature

    Author : Hoda Dini; Anders Jarfors; Nils-Eric Andersson; Uta Klement; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Magnesium alloys; As-cast; AZ91D; Mechanical properties; Microstructural scale effect; Physical modelling;

    Abstract : Magnesium and magnesium alloys are used in a wide variety of structural applications including automotive, aerospace, hand tools and electronic industries thanks to their light weight, high specific strength, adequate corrosion resistance and good castability. Al and Zn are the primary alloying elements in commercial Mg alloys and commonly used in automotive industries. READ MORE

  2. 7. SiC based field effect sensors and sensor systems for combustion control applications

    Author : Mike Andersson; Anita Lloyd Spetz; Udo Weimar; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SiC; Field Effect Sensors; Combustion Control; Other physics; Övrig fysik;

    Abstract : Increasing oil prices and concerns about global warming have reinforced the interest in biofuels for domestic and district heating, most commonly through combustion of solid biomass like wood logs, hog fuel and pellets. Combustion at non-optimal conditions can, however, lead to substantial emissions of noxious compounds like unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides as well as the generation of soot. 3. 8. On transport theory of correlated mesoscopic systems

    Author : Vadim Cheianov; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical physics; Teoretisk fysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis is about the theory of quantum transport through low dimensional correlated systems. Correlated systems are interacting many-particle systems where collective effects predominate over the individual properties of particles whereof they consist. Single particle approach to correlated systems would be essentially wrong. READ MORE

  4. 9. Water supply in hard rock coastal regions : The effect of heterogeneity and kinematic porosity

    Author : Robert Earon; Bo Olofsson; Gerhard Barmen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coastal aquifer; Crystalline rock; Water balance; Geographic information systems; Water supply planning;

    Abstract : Water resources in hard rock terrain are difficult to characterize due to heterogeneity and anisotropy in the fracture network, low porosities and limited recharge volumes available during the summer season. Three methods were developed and evaluated in order to assist in water supply planning. READ MORE

  5. 10. Effect of solvents during material treatment applications : tuning hydrophilicity of silicone rubber and drug loading in mesoporous silica

    Author : Anna Hillerström; Jan van Stam; Lennart Piculell; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solvents; liquid carbon dioxide; Interpenetrating Polymer Network IPN ; silicone rubber; hydrophilic; phase domains; mesoporous silica; ibuprofen; adsorption isotherms; release; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Choosing the right solvent is critical for many industrial applications. A useful property for selection of solvents is their solubility parameters. This concept of solubility parameters is central to this thesis and has been used in two different case studies of material treatment applications. READ MORE
