  1. 11. Evaluation of a Miniaturized Rotating Disk Apparatus for In Vitro Dissolution Rate Measurements in Aqueous Media : Correlation of In Vitro Dissolution Rate with Apparent Solubility

    Author : Anita M. Persson; Curt Pettersson; Anders Sokolowski; Anders Karlsson; Alex Avdeef; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; analytical methods; HPLC high-performance liquid chromatography ; miniaturization; in vitro dissolution rate; apparent solubility; physicochemical properties; dissolution media; correlation study; chemometrics; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Analytisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to evaluate a newly designed and constructed miniaturized rotating disk apparatus for in vitro dissolution rate measurements of different drug substances from all of the classes in the Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS). The new equipment is based on a low volume flow-through cell of Plexiglas, a gold plated magnetic bar and a special designed press. READ MORE

    Abstract : This work presents new development and applications of ab-initio simulation tools for material science. Focus lies on materials with strong electronic correlation and strong spin-orbit coupling. READ MORE

  3. 13. Correlation spectroscopy of single emitters : fundamental studies and applications

    Author : Hans Blom; KTH; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Correlation analysis and correlation spectroscopy has eversince the first developments, to characterise light emittingprocesses and biomolecular dynamics, continued to extend itspractical applicability. Today, correlation spectroscopy can beused in life science to study dynamical processes even at thesingle molecule level. READ MORE

  5. 15. Nonlocal Correlations in Density Functional Theory

    Author : Henrik Rydberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bonding; GGA; adhesion; graphene; DFT; exchange; adsorption; LDA; first principles; polarization; vdW; determinants; correlation; graphite; surface states; van der Waals; density-functional theory; physisorption; nonlocal; functional;

    Abstract : In Density Functional Theory, the widely used local and semilocal approximations to the exchange-correlation energy, the local density approximation (LDA) and the generalized gradient approximations (GGAs), lack a physical description of truly nonlocal correlation effects, which are absolutely essential for a proper description of soft matter. A scheme is proposed that provides a basis for systematic improvements beyond LDA and GGA, including correlations at intermediate and long range, giving rise to bonds of pure van der Waals type as well as more intricate, intermediate-range correlation bonds.
