  2. 2. Footbridge Dynamics : Human-Structure Interaction

    Author : Emma Zäll; Raid Karoumi; Mahir Ülker-Kaustell; Andreas Andersson; Peter Van den Broeck; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dynamics; vibration; footbridge; pedestrian bridge; human-structure interaction; runner; running loads; simplified models; Dynamik; vibration; gångbro; människa-bro-interaktion; löpare; löparlaster; förenklade modeller; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Abstract : For aesthetic reasons and due to an increased demand for cost-effective and environmentally friendly civil engineering structures, there is a trend in designing light and slender structures. Consequently, many modern footbridges are susceptible to excessive vibrations caused by human-induced loads. READ MORE

  3. 3. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm : Epidemiological and Health Economic Aspects

    Author : Kevin Mani; Anders Wanhainen; Martin Björck; Jonas Lundkvist; Craig Kent; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a common disease that is life threatening when rupture occurs. The aims of this thesis were to study (I) the long-term survival after AAA repair, (II) the cost of repair with open (OR) and endovascular (EVAR) technique, (III) the effect of different statistical methods on interpretation of cost data, (IV) the prevalence of the disease among patients with suspected arterial disease referred to the vascular laboratory, and (V) the cost-effectiveness of selective high-risk screening.     Keywords : Cost Estimation; Design for Producibility; Design Automation; Variant Design; Process Planning; Producibility Evaluation; System Development; Information Modelling;

    Abstract : The estimation of product cost is a central activity in the design process. Most companies act in an environment of high competition where the market sets the product price. This, in combination with a focus on satisfying the shareholders’ demand for return on investment, results in a focus on cost as a constraint. READ MORE
