1. Palladium-Catalysed Couplings in Organic Synthesis : Exploring Catalyst-Presenting Strategies and Medicinal Chemistry Applications
Abstract : Palladium-catalysed coupling reactions have been embraced by synthetic chemists as one of the preferred means for smooth formation of new carbon-carbon bonds: a truly ubiquitous methodology of synthesizing complex molecules. This thesis describes the study of a series of palladium(0)-catalysed C2-arylations of a 1-cyclopentenyl ether, equipped with a chiral (S)-N-methyl-pyrrolidine auxiliary. 2. Studies on Oxidative Couplings in H-Phosphonate Chemistry
Abstract : In this thesis oxidative coupling of H-phosphonate and H phosphonothioate diesters with different alcohols and amines are presented. Since the reactions with alcohols previously have been particularly unfavourable due to competing side reactions, a modified protocol leading to high coupling yields of structurally diverse hydroxylic components was developed. 3. Bridging McMurry and Wittig in One-Pot : Olefins from Stereoselective, Reductive Couplings of Two Aldehydes via Phosphaalkenes
Abstract : The formation of C=C bonds is of great importance for fundamental and industrial synthetic organic chemistry. There are many different methodologies for the construction of C=C bonds in the literature, but currently only the McMurry reaction allows the reductive coupling of two carbonyl compounds to form alkenes. 4. Molecular Structure in Liquid Crystals Studied by NMR
Abstract : This thesis is focused on structure determinations of molecules in liquid crystals using NMR. The systems described here exhibit orders ranging from nearly isotropic to essentially solid. READ MORE

5. Statistical Energy Analysis and the Individual Case
Abstract : For many years, one of the most used methods for vibro-acoustic analysis of transmission of Structure-Borne Sound in complex built up structures has been the method of Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA). SEA has many advantages that makes it attractive for engineering use. READ MORE
