  1. 1. Cows' milk hydrolysates : Prevention and treatment of cows' milk allergy

    Author : Göran Oldaéus; Arne Høst; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Cows' milk allergy (CMA) develops early in infancy and the incidence is 2-5% in developed countries. The onset of symptoms is in most cases related to the introduction of a cows' ntilk based formula. READ MORE

  2. 2. Sleep in dairy cows

    Author : Emma Ternman; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Little is known about rest and sleep in dairy cows, but it has been shown in other species that the total amount of sleep, duration of sleep bouts and distribution of sleep over 24 hours differ depending on health status, age, pregnancy and lactation. Sleep recordings conducted on cows with surgically implanted electrodes have shown that they sleep four hours per 24-hour period. READ MORE

  3. 3. Temporary neonatal exposure to whole and hydrolysed cow's milk proteins. Studies of macromolecular absorption and immunological variables

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to study prospectively the effects of different feeding regimens during the first three days of life. 4. 4. Phosphorus to horses and cows

    Author : Gunilla Ögren; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : It is important from a nutritional perspective to meet the phosphorus (P) requirements of animals. From an environmental perspective however, it is important not to feed more P than necessary, because excessive P will mainly be excreted with feces, and the soluble P fraction is vulnerable to runoff losses and may contribute to eutrophication. 5. 5. Assessing phosphorus overfeeding in dairy cows

    Author : Maria Nordqvist; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Faecal total phosphorus (TP) from dairy cows consists of a largely insoluble fraction and a soluble P fraction (SP), which mainly represents excess P. The soluble fraction increases proportionately with increased P feeding as excess P is mainly excreted with the faeces in soluble form. READ MORE
