16. Structural Safety Design for Real-World Situations - Using Computer Aided Engineering for Robust Passenger Car Crashworthiness
Abstract : Road traffic continues to cause more than a million fatalities worldwide every year. Although many steps have been taken to improve occupant protection in car crashes, challenges still remain for car designers. READ MORE

17. Computer based statistical treatment in models with incidental parameters : inspired by car crash data
Abstract : Bootstrap and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods have received much attention in recent years. We study computer intensive methods that can be used in complex situations where it is not possible to express the likelihood estimates or the posterior analytically. The work is inspired by a set of car crash data from real traffic. READ MORE

18. Health Losses in Motorcycle Crashes - Injury Analysis of Crashes into Road Barriers and Evaluation of Antilock Braking Systems
Abstract : Motorcycles crashes are a growing road safety problem. While the traditional safety approach has focused on protective gear and rider education, with the Vision Zero approach, the designers of the road transport system are considered responsible for its design and operation. READ MORE

19. Injuries among the elderly : study of fatal and non-fatal injury events
Abstract : In view of the expected increase in the proportion of elderly in the population in most western countries, we studied injuries among the elderly (>60 years) by investigating hospital-treated injuries in inpatients and outpatients, and fatal injuries.One-year Hospital Injury Data - Even though the elderly made up only 15% of the injured in one year, they accounted for 42% of the total cost of trauma medical care, showing that injuries among the elderly place a disproportional burden on the health care system. 20. Predictive models for accidents on urban links - A focus on vulnerable road users
Abstract : Much of earlier work on predictive models for accidents has been focused on rural traffic or urban intersections. This work has aimed at identifying and investigating possible improvements to predictive models for accidents on urban links. A special focus has been on the accidents of vulnerable road users.
