  1. 1. New Cu-I cluster compounds with luminescent properties

    Author : Ehsan Jalilian; Sven Lidin; Torbjörn Gustafsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Copper I iodide; structure determination; luminescence; TDDFT; Materials chemistry; Materialkemi; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis has been to investigate how the synthesis route, choice of solvent and counter-ions effects the crystallization of Cu(I)I systems, and to investigate the correlation between the structure and luminescence properties of the systems. In order to do so a series of compounds based on an anion containing Cu(I)I, stabilized by organic cations have been produced. READ MORE

  2. 2. Transition Metal Mediated Transformations of Carboranes

    Author : Ludvig Eriksson; Kalman Szabo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; carborane; isoquinoline; PK11195; peripheral bensodiazepine receptor; Cu I Iodide; iodinated carborane; palladium; isotopic exchange; Herrmann’s Catalyst; Heck reaction; Suzuki-Miyaura reaction; cross coupling; arylation; olefination; 125-iodine; radiolabelling; carboraneboronic ester; BNCT; 2-iodo-; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the use of copper and palladium to mediate transformations of carboranes, especially p-carborane.1-(1-p-carboranyl)-N-methyl-N-(2-butyl)-3-isoquinolinecarboxamide, a carborane containing analogue of the peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR) ligand PK11195, has been synthesised. 3. 3. Iodine-Metal Surface Interactions under Severe Accident Conditions in a Nuclear Power Plant

    Author : Henrik Glänneskog; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; containment; reactive metals; BWR; adsorption; iodine; radiolysis;

    Abstract : In the event of a severe nuclear reactor accident, iodine will be released from the fuel and eventually enter the containment. Radioactive iodine isotopes constitute both an acute and a long-term threat to humans, owing to its half-life and its accumulation in the thyroid gland. READ MORE
