  1. 1. Fractionation of Cu and Fe isotopes in metal-rich mine sites : biotic and abiotic processes

    Author : Nathalie Pérez Rodríguez; Magnus Land; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cu and Fe isotopes; fractionation; tailings; plants; phytoremediation; organic amendments; soil bacteria; Cu and Fe cycle; covellite; redox processes; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : After mineral exploitation the residual grinded and milled material, rich in sulphide minerals and heavy metals, is often left exposed to the atmospheric variables. This weathered mine waste material can lead to the formation of acid mine drainage (AMD) which has negative effects to the environment. READ MORE

  2. 2. Trace metals in the atmosphere : the wet deposition of trace metals : the selenium cycle

    Author : Howard B. Ross; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb and Zn concentrations in wet deposition have been monitored in Sweden since the autumn of 1983. Concentrations of these elements are highest in southern Sweden and decrease northward. Examination of enrichment factors, relative to crustal material, indicate that the major source of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn is anthropogenic emissions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biotic and abiotic isotope fractionation of copper and iron : From the lab to the field scale

    Author : Nathalie Pérez Rodríguez; Dominik Weiss; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : The distribution of the stable isotopes of Cu and Fe in nature is susceptible to isotope fractionation processes during the biogeochemical cycle. Since Cu and Fe are redox sensitive metals, differences in their oxidation states can lead to variations in the stable isotope composition of the aquatic species or compounds that they form. 4. 4. Studies on Rechargeable Fe-air electrodes in Alkaline electrolyte

    Author : Alagar Raj Paulraj; Yohannes Kiros; Carlos Ponce de León Albarrán; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fe-air battery; Cu Sn-doped nanostructured iron electrodes; Alkaline electrolytes; Bi-functional OER ORR catalyst; perovskite spinel catalyst; NiFeOx; air electrode; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Energy storage system is an important component in the energy system based on variable renewable energy sources into the grid. Energy storage system could contribute to decarbonization, energy security, offset the demand and supply of the electricity sector, especially for the electric grid. READ MORE

  5. 5. Oxygen Carriers Materials for Chemical-Looping Technologies

    Author : Muhammad Qamar Ul Islam Zafar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Natural gas; Reaction kinetics; Oxygen carriers; Chemical-looping reforming; TGA; Chemical-looping combustion; CO2; Metal oxides;

    Abstract : Carbon dioxide is the gas which contributes most to the greenhouse effect. It is released in large quantities from fossil fuel-based power plants around the world. It is generally accepted that a rapid decrease in the emissions of carbon dioxide is needed. READ MORE
