1. Atomic layer epitaxy of copper
Abstract : The high electric and thermal conductivity of copper has made it to a prime candidate as interconnect material in future integrated circuits. In this thesis, Atomic Layer Epitaxy has been used to deposit thin copper films on a variety of substrates, using both CuCl and Cu(II)2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate, Cu(thd)2, as precursors and hydrogen as reducing agent. 2. Atomic Layer Deposition of Copper, Copper(I) Oxide and Copper(I) Nitride on Oxide Substrates
Abstract : Thin films play an important role in science and technology today. By combining different materials, properties for specific applications can be optimised. READ MORE

4. Atmospheric corrosion of zinc-aluminum and copper-based alloys in chloride-rich environments : Microstructure, corrosion initiation, patina evolution and metal release
Abstract : Fundamental understanding of atmospheric corrosion mechanisms requires an in-depth understanding on the dynamic interaction between corrosive constituents and metal/alloy surfaces. This doctoral study comprises field and laboratory investigations that assess atmospheric corrosion and metal release processes for two different groups of alloys exposed in chloride-rich environments. 5. Homoleptic Arylcopper Complexes
Abstract : New arylcopper complexes have been synthesised and characterised structurally. The reaction between the Grignard reagent (viph)MgBr (viph = ortho-vinylphenyl) and CuCl has been studied and two unstable mixed aryl/halide intermediates, [Mg(THF)6][Cu5(viph)2Br4]2.THF and [Mg(THF)5Cl][Cu5(viph)4Br2].
