  1. 11. Grid-forming wind power plants

    Author : Anant Narula; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wind power plants WPPs ; grid-forming GFM ; inertia; Ancillary services; frequency support; coordination; current limitation; energy storage systems ESS ; transient stability;

    Abstract : With growing concerns over climate change, the power system is witnessing an unprecedented growth in electricity generation from intermittent renewable energy sources (RES) such as wind and solar, which are commonly interfaced to the grid by power-electronic converters. However, increasing the penetration level of converter-interfaced generation units reduces the number of synchronous generators (SGs) in the grid that provide system services to support voltage and frequency, either inherently or through mandatory requirements and market products. Abstract : This thesis is an effort to investigate the operation and the performanceof modular multilevel converters (M2Cs). Proven to be the most promisingtopology in high-voltage high-power applications, it is necessary to put aneffort in understanding the physical laws that govern the internal dynamicsof such converters, in order to design appropriate control methods. 3. 13. Resource Allocation for Data-Intensive Services in the Cloud

    Author : David Daharewa Gureya; Vladimir Vlassov; Joao Pedro Barreto; Gregory Chockler; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cloud computing; QoS-aware resource allocation; Elasticity controller; Multi-socket systems; Non-uniform memory access; Page placement; Memory-intensive applications; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : Cloud computing has become ubiquitous due to its resource flexibility and cost efficiency. Resource flexibility allows Cloud users to elastically scale their Cloud resources, for instance, by horizontally scaling the number of virtual machines allocated to each application as the application demands change. 4. 14. Grid-Connected Voltage Source Converter - Control Principles and Wind Energy Applications

    Author : Jan Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wind turbine; voltage source converter; voltage angle control; frequency response; vector current control; grid-connected; forced-commutated; measurements;

    Abstract : The thesis focuses on a forced-commutated voltage source converter (VSC) connected to a grid in a wind energy application. The work consists of four parts. The first part addresses the type of electrical system which should be used in a wind turbine. READ MORE
