  1. 1. Improved Self-Consumption of Photovoltaic Electricity in Buildings Storage, Curtailment and Grid Simulations

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Institutionen för teknikvetenskaper

    Author : Rasmus Luthander; Joakim Widén; Joakim Munkhammar; Ewa Wäckelgård; Nicholas Etherden; [2016]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Photovoltaics; Solar energy; Self-consumption; Grid integration; Distributed generation; Energy storage; Curtailment; Power system; Engineering Science with specialization in Solid State Physics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : The global market for photovoltaics (PV) has increased rapidly: during 2014, 44 times more was installed than in 2004, partly due to a price reduction of 60-70% during the same time period. Economic support schemes that were needed to make PV competitive on the electricity market have gradually decreased and self-consumption of PV electricity is becoming more interesting internationally from an economic perspective. 2. 2. Increasing the hosting capacity of distributed energy resources using storage and communication

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Institutionen för teknikvetenskaper

    Author : Nicholas Etherden; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Renewable Energy Generation; Energy Storage; Hosting Capacity; Curtailment; Demand Response; Dynamic Line Rating; Power System Communication; Smart Grid; Technology - Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Förnyelsebara energikällor; Energilagring; Acceptansgräns; Kommunikation i kraftsystem; Smarta elnät; Teknikvetenskap - Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik; Electric Power Engineering; Elkraftteknik;

    Abstract : The use of electricity from Distributed Energy Resources like wind and solar powerwill impact the performance of the electricity network and this sets a limit to theamount of such renewables that can be connected. Investment in energy storage andcommunication technologies enables more renewables by operating the networkcloser to its limits. READ MORE

    Abstract : Determinants influencing consumer eco-innovation adoption and green curtailment behaviors in a travel context are at the center of this thesis. Previous research on green consumer behavior has uncovered that internalized personal attitudinal factors such as values, beliefs, and norms are influential in determining mainly non-consumption and post-purchase behaviors. Abstract : Falls and fall-related concern and fear of falling are not well understood when it comes to old people receiving home-help services, a transitional population in-between those living independently in the community and those living in residential care facilities. The psychological distress attributable to the perceived risk of falling among this population needs further exploration, which is also the case regarding possible ways to increase their feeling of security.
