  1. 11. Uncertainty and correlation modeling for load flow analysis of future electricity distribution systems : Probabilistic modeling of low voltage networks with residential photovoltaic generation and electric vehicle charging

    Author : Umar Hanif Ramadhani; Joakim Widén; Joakim Munkhammar; Sarah Rönnberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Probabilistic load flow; Electricity distribution systems; Uncertainty model; Correlation model; Photovoltaics; Electric vehicle; Residential buildings; Hosting capacity; Engineering Science with specialization in Civil Engineering and Built Environment; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot byggteknik och byggd miljö;

    Abstract : The penetration of photovoltaic (PV) and electric vehicles (EVs) continues to grow and is predicted to claim a vital share of the future energy mix. It poses new challenges in the built environment, as both PV systems and EVs are widely dispersed in the electricity distribution system. READ MORE

  2. 12. Avoiding greenhouse gas emissions using flexibility in smart thermal grids

    Author : Jay Hennessy; Hailong Li; Justin Chiu; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; district heating; thermal grids; flexibility; avoided emissions; thermal storage; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : The Paris Agreement on climate change entered into force in 2016 and has been ratified by 193 of the 197 Parties to-date, followed by country targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions, not least through an increasing penetration of renewable energy sources. In its 2021 annual World Energy Outlook, the IEA envisages a Net-Zero Emissions by 2050 scenario (NZE) in which renewables as a percentage of total energy supply increase from around 10% in 2020 to over 65% in 2050 and is reflected by a similar change in the percentage of variable renewables in total generation, thereby increasing the need for system flexibility. 3. 13. Data-driven methods for real-time dynamic stability assessment and control

    Author : Hannes Hagmar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine learning; Security assessment; Neural networks; Optimal control; Dynamic voltage security margin; Voltage instability prediction; Voltage stability; Deep reinforcement learning;

    Abstract : Electric power systems are becoming increasingly complex to operate; a trend driven by an increased demand for electricity, large-scale integration of renewable energy resources, and new system components with power electronic interfaces. In this thesis, a new real-time monitoring and control tool that can support system operators to allow more efficient utilization of the transmission grid has been developed. READ MORE

  4. 14. Cold Load Pick-up

    Author : Evert Agneholm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cold load pick-up; load modelling; field measurements; blackout; power system restoration;

    Abstract : The load behaviour of the industrial and residential sector following different types of outages is dealt with in this dissertation. Data on the power consumption after these outages have been used for deriving models of the cold load pick-up. READ MORE

  5. 15. Wind power in thermal power systems

    Author : Lisa Göransson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; integration; wind power; variation moderator; PHEV; storage;

    Abstract : AbstractWind power is a key technology in the effort to transform the power system in order to reduce its climate impact. However, the ability of wind power to reduce CO2-emissions depends on the properties of the power system. READ MORE
