  1. 1. Clinical probability assessment and biochemical markers in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis

    University dissertation from Lund University

    Author : Johan Elf; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2010]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Venous thrombosis; APC-PCI complex.; D-Dimer; Clinical probability; Diagnosis;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Övergripande syfte Syftet med avhandlingen var att utvärdera hur en förenklad metod för diagnostisering av blodproppar i benets djupa ådror (djup ventrombos (DVT)) fungerar i svensk rutinsjukvård. Den förenklade metoden innebär användning av en strukturerad klinisk sannolikhetsbedömning tillsammans med ett blodprov (D-dimer test). READ MORE

  2. 2. On Acute Thrombo-Embolic Occlusion of the Superior Mesenteric Artery

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Stefan Acosta; Uppsala universitet.; [2004]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; acute thrombo-embolic occlusion; superior mesenteric artery; intestinal infarction; D-Dimer; intestinal revascularisation; population-based study; incidence; autopsy; Kirurgi; MEDICINE Surgery; MEDICIN Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Acute thrombo-embolic occlusion of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) with intestinal infarction is a lethal disease, difficult to diagnose in time, with unknown incidence and cause-specific mortality. The aim of this thesis was to characterize the disease and to develop diagnostic methods. READ MORE

  3. 3. Factor V Leiden mutation and pregnancy. Haemostasis during pregnancy in non-carriers and carriers of factor V Leiden mutation, with special emphasis on placenta-mediated and venous thromboembolic complications and on blood coagulation and fibrinolysis markers for prediction of complications

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Ulla Kjellberg; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2009]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Activated protein C; D-dimer; Factor V Leiden; fibrinolysis; haemostasis; obstetric complications; platelet function; pregnancy; prothrombin fragment 1 2; soluble fibrin; Sonoclot; thrombosis;

    Abstract : Factor V Leiden (FVL) mutation elevates the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in general. During pregnancy, the haemostatic balance is changed in the direction of hypercoagulability, resulting in an increased incidence of VTE. 42 women were followed longitudinally during pregnancy and the puerperium. 4. 4. High Affinity Synthetic Molecular Binders for Proteins Design, Synthesis and Evaluation

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Xiaojiao Sun; Uppsala universitet.; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polypeptide; conjugates; D-dimer; myeloperoxidase; chitinase;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the design and synthesis of small molecule derivatives and their polypeptide conjugates as high affinity binders for proteins: the D-dimer protein (D-dimer), a biomarker for diagnosis of thromboembolic diseases; human myeloperoxidase (MPO), a biomarker for cardiovascular diseases; and chitinases, potential targets for asthma therapy. The interactions between the synthetic binder molecules and those proteins were evaluated by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor analysis and fluorescence spectroscopy. READ MORE

  5. 5. Venous thromboembolism. Aspects on risk factors, diagnostic tools and treatment with thrombin inhibition

    University dissertation from Göteborg

    Author : Karin Wåhlander; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2002]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; deep vein thrombosis; pulmonary embolism; venous thromboembolism; Factor V Leiden; prothrombin gene G20210A; thrombin inhibition; ximelagatran; melagatran; PT; APTT; D-dimer.;

    Abstract : Venous thromboembolism (VTE), comprising deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), is a multifactorial disease. The aims of the present thesis were to investigate Factor V Leiden and prothrombin G20210A mutations as potential risk factors for VTE during and after major surgery, to compare different D-dimer assays and evaluate their usefulness in the diagnosis of DVT, to investigate clinical effects, safety and pharmacokinetic properties of an oral thrombin inhibitor (ximelagatran) when treating VTE and finally to investigate the usefulness of coagulation assays (APTT and PT) during treatment with thrombin inhibition.
