  1. 1. The Mussel Adhesive Protein (Mefp-1) A GREEN Corrosion Inhibitor

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Fan Zhang; KTH.; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbon steel; mussel adhesive protein; Mefp-1; inhibitor; adsorption; film forming; complexation; cross-linking; ceria nanoparticle; composite film; EIS; AFM; QCM-D; ATR-FTIR; Confocal Raman Micro-spectroscopy; DFT calculation;

    Abstract : Corrosion of metallic materials is a natural process, and our study shows that even in an alkaline environment severe corrosion may occur on a carbon steel surface. While corrosion cannot be stopped it can be retarded. READ MORE

  2. 2. Genetic heterogeneity of hepatitis B and D viruses in chronic infection

    University dissertation from Yong Yuan Zhang, Dept. of Medical Microbiology, Section of Virology, University Hospital, MAS, 205 02 Malmo, SWEDEN

    Author : Yong Yuan Zhang; [1996]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bacteriology; Microbiology; phylogenetic analysis; mutant; mutation; genetic heterogeneity; HBV; HDV; hepatitis B; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : During the prolonged course of chronic viral infection there is a continuous reciprocal interaction between the host immune defence system and the viral immunogens, and viral genetic mutations capable of circumventing host immune defence could be selected for. Our observation of increasing prevalence of heterogeneity in the DNA sequence coding for the ‘a1 determinant of HBsAg in patients with presumed increasing length of chronic HBV infection is in agreement with the assumption of accumulation of presumed escape mutants. 3. 3. Hankel operators and Plancherel formula

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Stockholm University

    Author : Genkai Zhang; Stockholms universitet.; [1991]

    Abstract : We consider the natural unitary action of the group SU(d, 1) on the Hilbert space L2(B,d/j,\), where B is the unit ball of C , dfi\ is the measure K(z, z)~~*+ï dm(z), and K(z, z) the reproducing kernel of the Bergman space on B. For A > —1 and not an integer, a Plancherel formula is proved for this action and, in particular, an explicit formula for the correponding Plancherel measure is found. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chromatographic studies of interactions between solutes, lipid bilayers and the glucose transporter Glut1

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Yanxiao Zhang; Uppsala universitet.; [1997]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Biochemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : It is advantageous to analyze solute interactions with biological membranes by chromatography on stationary phases that mimic the membrane structures. In the present work, liposomes, proteoliposomes, human red cells and red cell membrane vesicles were immobilized for analyses ofinteractions between solutes (peptides, drugs, inhibitors and glucose), lipid bilayers and theglucose transporter Glut1. 5. 5. Calcium-binding proteins as markers and functional determinants of neurons in pain networks

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Neuroscience

    Author : Mingdong Zhang; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2017]

    Abstract : The thesis focuses on the anatomical and cellular distribution of three EF-hand calcium binding proteins, secretagogin, neuronal calcium-binding protein 1 (NECAB1) and NECAB2 in dorsal root ganglia (DRGs) and spinal cord of three species, mouse, rat and human, and their possible roles in pathophysiological pain. In Paper I and Paper IV, we report that the expression of secretagogin is limited to a small subpopulation of peptidergic neurons in mouse and human DRGs expressing calcitonin generelated peptide (CGRP).
