11. Evaluation of a Miniaturized Rotating Disk Apparatus for In Vitro Dissolution Rate Measurements in Aqueous Media : Correlation of In Vitro Dissolution Rate with Apparent Solubility
Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to evaluate a newly designed and constructed miniaturized rotating disk apparatus for in vitro dissolution rate measurements of different drug substances from all of the classes in the Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS). The new equipment is based on a low volume flow-through cell of Plexiglas, a gold plated magnetic bar and a special designed press. READ MORE

12. Analytical method development for ultra-trace determination of human pharmaceuticals in aqueous samples. Assessing the performance of a sewage treatment plant
Abstract : Research focus in environmental pollution has recently been extended from more classical environmental pollutants such as PCBs or pesticides to pharmaceuticals and steroid hormones, which are designed to be biologically active and enter the environment primarily through regular domestic use. Consequently, it is important to monitor these substances concentrations in the effluents of sewage treatment plants (STPs) and in the environment in order to evaluate their associated risks. 14. Characterization of neuropeptide, monoamine, and amino acid release in the basal ganglia of the rat : neuronal dependence and reciprocal interactions
Abstract : Functional interactions in the basal ganglia of rats were characterized with in vivomicrodialysis. The study was mainly focused on the dynorphin and cholecystokinin (CCK) systems. The extracellular levels of both dynorphin B and CCK were found in the pM range inthe neostriatum and substantia nigra under basal conditions. READ MORE
