  1. 6. Upper limb reduction deficiencies in Swedish children : classification, prevalence and function with myoelectric prostheses

    Author : Liselotte M. N. Hermansson; Ann-Christine Eliasson; Ann Nachemson; Karolinska institutet Institutionen för kvinnors och barns hälsa; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; children; upper limb; deficiency; register validation; scoliosis; arm prosthesis; measurement; occupational therapy; psychopathology; depression; Medicine; Medicin; Children; upper limb; deficiency; register validation; scoliosis; arm prosthesis; measurement; occupational therapy; psychopathology; depression;

    Abstract : Upper limb reduction deficiency (ULRD) is a rare condition that has been known ever since the 6th century B.C. This is a lifelong deficiency which in an afflicted child can lead to practical limitations, social restrictions and physical problems. READ MORE

  2. 7. Healthcare interventions in children with congenital limb reduction deficiency : long term outcomes and experiences of decisions made during childhood

    Author : Lis Sjöberg; Liselotte Hermansson; Carin Fredriksson; Helen Lindner; Mats Granlund; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood; daily occupation; decision-making; family-centered service; life situation; limb deficiency; myoelectric prosthesis; parental role; rehabilitation; surgery;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe experiences and long-term outcomes of healthcare interventions for children with congenital limb reduction deficiency (CLRD). The four studies included were conducted with descriptive designs. READ MORE

  3. 8. Complement-dependent defence against bacterial infection. Studies in C2 deficiency

    Author : Barbro Selander; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antibody responses; polysaccharide antigens; vaccination; mannan-binding lectin MBL ; complement; C2 deficiency; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Abstract : The complement system is critically involved in defence against bacterial infection. C2 deficiency is, apart from mannan-binding lectin (MBL) deficiency, the most common homozygous complement deficiency among Caucasians. READ MORE

  4. 9. On Sequential Treatment Allocations in Clinical Trials

    Author : Carl-Fredrik Burman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; treatment assignment; clinical trial; biased coin designs; balance of prognostic factors; sequential design; randomization test; expected p-value; deficiency; efficiency; efficiency;

    Abstract : This dissertation treats baseline-dependent sequential designs of two-treatment parallel-group clinical trials. The treatment assignments are chosen in order to minimize the variance, in a linear model, of the treatment effect. This is done for each new allocation using a generalized biased coin design, or a non-randomized minimization' method. READ MORE

  5. 10. Genetic, molecular and functional analyses of factor I - an inhibitor of the complement system

    Author : Sara Nilsson; Malmö Proteinkemi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome; deficiency; Complement inhibition; factor I; renal disease;

    Abstract : Factor I (FI) is a serine protease that inhibits the complement system by cleaving activated C3 and C4 complement proteins, in the presence of cofactors. Mutations in the gene coding for FI have been identified in complete FI deficient- and atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) patients. READ MORE
