1. A Study on Desulfurization of Hot Metal Using Different Agents
Abstract : This thesis deals with desulfurization of hot metal using different agents. The aim of this study was to improve the understanding of commonly used desulfurization agents such as fluidized CaO, CaC2, commercial-CaO, Mg, and mixtures of commercial-CaO-Mg. The possibility to use ZnO for desulfurization of hot metal was also investigated. READ MORE

2. Application of subcritical and supercritical fluids in coal extraction and analysis
Abstract : Coal is used to generate electricity and produce high-value chemicals through coal gasification, liquefaction, and coke. During combustion sulfur is released, which leads to acid rain formation. READ MORE

3. Monolith Reactors in Three-Phase Processes
Abstract : The use of monoliths in chemical processes has been studied with the emphasis on liquid-phase hydrogenations. A monolithic catalyst consists of many narrow, parallel channels with catalytically active species either incorporated into the wall itself or into a layer of a porous oxide deposited on the wall (a washcoat). 4. Study and Modeling of the Reduction of Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides and Hydrogen Chloride by Dry Injection Technologies
Abstract : The potential and mechanism to reduce acid gases, such as SO2, NOx and HCl by dry Ca-based sorbents have been studied to improve the efficiencies of the process and sorbent utilization. Several natural limestones were tested for SO2 removal. Calcium conversion as high as 45% was achieved within 0.3 s at 1000°C, 1000 ppm SO2 and Ca/S=1. READ MORE

5. SiC-FET Gas Sensors Developed for Control of the Flue Gas Desulfurization System in Power Plants Experimental and Modeling : Experimental and Modeling
Abstract : Electricity and power generation is an essential part of our life. However, powergeneration activities also create by-products (such as sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, etc), which can be dangerous when released to the atmosphere. READ MORE
