  1. 1. Transformations of Nitrosoarenes and Alkynyl Enones : Selective Synthesis of Nitrogen-Containing Compounds

    Author : Angela van der Werf; Nicklas Selander; Gary A. Molander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; alkynyl enones; catalysis; copper; halogenation; heterocycles; nitrosoarenes; perfluoroalkylation; trifluoromethylation; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The nitrogen atom plays a unique role in organic chemistry. It is abundantly found in organic materials and is responsible for the activity of many biologically relevant compounds. READ MORE

  2. 2. Asymmetric Formation and Isomerization of Three-Membered Rings : Catalyst Development and Evaluation

    Author : Sophie Bertilsson; Tobias Rein; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; allylic alcohol; α-amino acid derivative; aza-Diels-Alder reaction; aziridination; cyclopropanation; desymmetrization; epoxide rearrangement; kinetic resolution; lithium amide; rhodium-carboxylate; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Enantiopure α-amino acid derivatives were prepared using a protocol which allows for highly controlled regio- and chemoselectivity in the hydrogenation/ hydrogenolysis of aza-Diels-Alder adducts. One of the resulting α-amino esters, (1S,3R,4R)-2-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester, was utilized further as a catalyst precursor. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development and Assessment of Regeneration Methods for Commercial Automotive Three-Way Catalysts

    Author : Henrik Birgersson; Magali Boutonnet; Jim A. Andersson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; automotive catalyst; TWC; aging; sintering; Pd Rh; Pt Rh; regeneration; oxy-chlorination; dispersion; acid-leaching; mathematical modeling; reaction kinetics; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Car exhaust catalysts were introduced in the early 1980’s, to limit the release of pollutants such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. These catalysts contain noble metals such as palladium (Pd), platinum (Pt) and rhodium (Rh) and are able to simultaneously abate all three of the above-mentioned pollutants, hence the name three-way catalyst (TWC). 4. 4. Arctic geographies in the making : understanding political economy, institutional strategic selectivity, and agency in tourism pathway development

    Author : Dorothee Bohn; Doris A. Carson; Linda Lundmark; E. Carina H. Keskitalo; Dimitri Ioannides; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Arctic tourism; political economy; institutional strategic selectivity; agency; tourism pathways; uneven development; metagovernance; regional development funding; resort enclave; firm financing;

    Abstract : Tourism has long been promoted as a catalyst for socio-economic development in sparsely populated areas based on the commodification of culture and natural environments. This thesis examines the case of Arctic tourism in the two neighbouring northern counties of Finnish Lapland and Norrbotten (Sweden). READ MORE

  5. 5. Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation of Aromatic Ketones : Catalyst Development and Mechanistic Studies

    Author : Sofia Nordin; Torbjörn Frejd; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development and evaluation of new chiral Ru(arene)(amino alcohol) catalysts for the transfer hydrogenation of aromatic ketones using isopropanol as the hydrogen source. Two mechanistic studies of the Ru(arene)(amino alcohol) catalyzed transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone were also conducted. The Ru(arene)[(1S,3R,4R)-3. READ MORE
