  1. 1. CT colonography. Technique, diagnostic accuracy and patient acceptance

    Author : Maria H Svensson (Reutersköld); Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Colon; Rectum; Computed tomography; Three-dimensional imaging; Colorectal neoplasms; Colonic polyps; Colonoscopy; Acceptance testing; Incidental findings; Diagnostic accuracy;

    Abstract : The aim was to evaluate diagnostic potential, technical performance, and patient acceptance of CT colonography when used for detection of colorectal polyps and cancer in symptomatic patients with a high risk of colorectal neoplasia.Methods: After bowel preparation, 111 symptomatic patients underwent CT colonography followed by conventional colonoscopy. 2. 2. Aspects of PET-CT in prostate cancer. Protocol optimization, diagnostic accuracy, and dosimetry

    Author : Mimmi Bjöersdorff; Malmö Nuklearmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PET-CT; Prostatacancer; [18F]FCH; [18F]PSMA-1007; optimering; diagnostisk noggrannhet; dosimetri; PET-CT; Prostate Cancer; [18F]FCH; [18F]PSMA-1007; Optimization; Diagnostic accuracy; Dosimetric;

    Abstract : The PET-CT imaging modality is based on positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography. Before a PET-CT examination, a radioactive tracer (also called a radiopharmaceutical) is intravenously injected into the patient. PET technology images the distribution of this tracer element by detecting the decay. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fetal Anomalies : Surveillance and Diagnostic Accuracy of Ultrasound and Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    Author : Hashem Amini; Ove Axelsson; Johan Wikström; Pelle Lindqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pregnancy termination; fetal anomalies; antenatal diagnosis; ultrasound; second trimester; fetal MRI; CNS anomalies; pregnancy management; non-CNS anomalies; fetal autopsy; birth defects registry; ascertainment; spina bifida; cleft lip palate; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and gynaecology; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Abstract : The aims were to investigate the accuracy of ultrasound in diagnosis of structural fetal anomalies with special focus on false positive findings (I), to evaluate the additional value of second trimester fetal MRI on pregnancy management (II-III) and to estimate the ascertainment in the Swedish Birth Defects Registry and incidence of spina bifida and cleft lip/palate (IV). Retrospectively, 328 fetal autopsies were identified where pregnancies were terminated due to ultrasonographically diagnosed fetal anomalies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Computer-Assisted Diagnosis for the Interpretation of Bone Scintigraphy. A new approach to improve diagnostic accuracy

    Author : May Sadik; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Diagnostic accuracy; Radionuclide imaging; Bone metastases; Breast cancer; Prostate cancer;

    Abstract : The most common cancers in the western countries are breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men, and these cancer types, together with lung cancer, often metastasise to the skeleton. Bone scan is used to determine whether metastases are present, and the result of the examination serves as a guide in the choice of treatment strategy. READ MORE

  5. 5. Evaluation of image quality and diagnostic accuracy in breast tomosynthesis. Comparison with digital mammography and estimates of radiation risk

    Author : Tony Svahn; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diagnostic accuracy; breast tomosynthesis BT ; digital mammography DM ; average glandular dose AGD ; receiver operating characteristics ROC ; risk assessment; search-model SM ; proper ROC PROPROC ;

    Abstract : Recent advances in the digital detector technology have paved the way for modalities such as two-dimensional digital mammography (DM) and three-dimensional breast tomosynthesis (BT). In this work, experimental studies were conducted to investigate the influence of reducing the average glandular dose (AGD) on detection of simulated lesions in DM and to compare the diagnostic accuracy of BT and DM.
