  1. 1. Electrochemistry of Heme Containing Enzymes - Fundamentals and Applications

    Author : Annika Lindgren; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phenol monitoring; spectroelectrochemistry; self-assembled monolayer; gold electrode; graphite electrode; direct electron transfer; cellobiose dehydrogenase; biosensor; peroxidase; kinetics; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi;

    Abstract : The thesis is a bioelectrochemical study of heme enzymes, mainly peroxidases and cellobiose dehydrogenases (CDH). It covers both fundamental and applied aspects, viz. studies of the direct electron transfer and kinetics of enzymes on electrodes, and the development of amperometric enzyme-based biosensors. 2. 2. Functional aspects of cellobiose dehydrogenase Applications for biosensor development

    Author : Leonard Stoica; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elektrokemi; Electrochemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; bioelectrochemistry; direct electron transfer; lactose biosensor;

    Abstract : Electrochemcial investigations were conducted for elucidating and understanding the relation between the various electron transfer processes occurring in cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) bound to an electrode surface. Substrate inhibition caused by cellobiose was proven to act in competition with the electron transfer to a two-electron acceptor and under a partial inhibition mechanism for the internal electron transfer process. 3. 3. Bipolar electrochemistry for high throughput screening applications

    Author : Sara Munktell; Fredrik Björefors; Maria Hahlin; Tautgirdas Ruzgas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bipolar electrochemistry; electrodeposition; corrosion; screening; gradients; recycling; gold nanoparticles; Scanning Droplet Cell; Hard x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; pitting corrosion; Kemi med inriktning mot materialkemi; Chemistry with specialization in Materials Chemistry;

    Abstract : Bipolar electrochemistry is an interesting concept for high throughput screening techniques due to the ability to induce gradients in a range of materials and their properties, such as composition, particle size, or dopant levels, among many others. One of the key advantages of the method is the ability to test, create or modify materials without the need for a direct electrical connection. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies of Electrocatalytic Reactions of NADH at Mediator Modified Electrodes and of H2O2 at Peroxidase Modified Electrodes

    Author : Florentina Munteanu; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi; kinetic studies; silica gel; titanium phoshate; zirconium phosphate; NADH; redox mediator; phenolic compounds; hydrogen peroxide; electron transfer; graphite and carbon paste electrodes; peroxidase; biosensor;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses: (1) studies of direct and mediated electron transfer and kinetics of peroxidases on electrodes and the development of amperometric peroxidase-based biosenors, (2) electrochemical and kinetic studies of NADH oxidation at mediator modified electrodes. The direct and mediated electron transfer of horseradish and tobacco peroxidase were investigated on graphite electrodes by using wall-jet electrode methodology. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electrooxidation of glycerol and methanol on gold

    Author : Mikael Valter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; van der Waals; electrochemistry; methanol; gold; glycerol; DFT;

    Abstract : Burning of fossil fuels leads to excess CO2 in the atmosphere, causing global warming, threatening civilisation and ecosystems worldwide. As a step in making the society fossil-independent, we need to replace oil, coal, and gas in the transportation sector with fuels originating from sustainable energy. READ MORE
