    Author : Andreas Lindblad; Olle Björneholm; Gunnar Öhrwall; Maxim Tchaplyguine; Paolo Milani; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cluster; nanoparticle; Heterogeneous; Homogeneous; Mixed; Cluster production methods; co-expansion; pick-up; doping; Cluster geometry; radial segregation; Interatomic Coulombic Decay; ICD; Auger electron spectroscopy; AES; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; XPS; Ultra-violet spectroscopy; UPS; Noble gas; Rare gas; Ne; Ar; Kr; Xe; Ammonia; NH3; Sulphur hexafluoride; SF6; MAX-lab; BESSY; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Clusters are finite ensembles of atoms or molecules with sizes in the nanometer regime (i.e. nanoparticles). This thesis present results on the geometric and electronic structure of homogeneous and heterogeneous combinations of atoms and molecules. READ MORE

  2. 2. Essays on Income Taxation

    Author : Dingquan Miao; Spencer Bastani; Thomas Giebe; Jukka Pirttilä; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Optimal income taxation; tagging; immigrants; numerical simulation; earnings supply; skill distributions.; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : This thesis contributes to the study of income taxation. It consists of three self- contained papers.The first paper, Should Natives and Immigrants Face Different Income Tax Schedules, computes how optimal income tax schedules optimally should be differentiated between immigrants and natives. 3. 3. On the occurrence and possible causes of motor neuron disease in Sweden

    Author : Lars-Gunnar Gunnarsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Epidemiology; amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; incidence; prevalence; mortality; cluster; Iisk factors; occupation; environment; agricultural work; electrical work; welding; solvents; heredity; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : A series of investigations have been performed to study secular trends of motor neuron disease (MND) morbidity and mortality in Sweden, to identify time and/or space clusters, if any, and to uncover risk factors. The occurrence of the disease was estimated from incidence, prevalence and mortality rates, and the strength of various determinants was evaluated by means of the case-control approach, using population controls. 4. 4. Cluster Observations and Theoretical Explanations of Broadband Waves in the Auroral Region

    Author : Marie Backrud; Jan-Erik Wahlund; Mats André; David Knudsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space and plasma physics; ion acoustic waves; auroral region; anomalous resistivity; Cluster; Rymd- och plasmafysik; Space physics; Rymdfysik;

    Abstract : Broadband extremely low-frequency wave emissions below the ion plasma frequency have been observed by a number of spacecraft and rockets on auroral field lines. The importance of these broadband emissions for transverse ion heating and electron acceleration in the auroral regions is now reasonably well established. READ MORE

  5. 5. Studies on Quality of Life : A Methodological Perspective on the Definition and Measurement of the Good Life in Patients with Psychiatric Illness

    Author : Madis Kajandi; Frits-Axel Wiesel; Ulf Malm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Psychiatry; quality of life; measurement; definition; psychiatry; validity; reliability; Psykiatri; Psychiatry; Psykiatri; psykiatri; Psychiatry;

    Abstract : Background: In social sciences the quality of life (QOL) concept is often connected with efforts to evaluate welfare and well being. In medicine QOL is frequently used as a complement to evaluations of cure. In psychiatry QOL is of special importance because many patients have to endure long periods of illness. READ MORE
