16. Complex Chemistry Modeling of Diesel Spray Combustion
Abstract : The thesis illustrates the application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to turbulent reactive two-phase flows in piston engines. The focus of the thesis lies on numerical simulations of spray combustion phenomena with an emphasis on the modeling of turbulence/chemistry interaction effects using a detailed chemistry approach. 17. Hydrogen Generation for Fuel Cells in Auxiliary Power Systems
Abstract : Heavy-duty trucks are in idle operation during long periods of time, providing the vehicles with electricity via the alternator at standstill. Idling trucks contribute to large amounts of emissions and high fuel consumption as a result of the low efficiency from fuel to electricity. READ MORE

18. The Oxy-Fuel Process - Towards high efficient operation
Abstract : The power generation system is facing large changes to meet the demands on reduced emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2). Oxy-fuel combustion with capture of CO2 is a promising option to meet those demands. READ MORE

19. Lung cancer and occupational exposure to combustion products
Abstract : Lung cancer, the most common cause of cancer death, is predominantly attributable to tobacco smoking. One of the many carcinogenic components of tobacco smoke are polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). READ MORE

20. CFD Modelling of a Free-Piston Engine Using Detailed Chemistry
Abstract : The Free Piston Engine, FPE, which is capable of operating in a variable compression ratio mode, is highly suitable for the promising Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) concept, allowing flexible auto-ignition control on a cycle-to-cycle basis without any hardware modifications. In this study, the effects of varying the start of injection on the emission formation and efficiency of such an engine have been investigated, using simulations based on the KIVA-3V CFD code.
