1. DNA-Controlled Lipid-Membrane Fusion
Abstract : Membrane fusion is essential for nerve-cell communication, for protein transport between cell organelles and the cell-membrane and for enabling the merger between virus and host membranes during virus infection. We have demonstrated that short DNA oligonucleotides, membrane-attached via CH in an orientation that mimics the overall zipperlike architecture of fusion-inducing proteins, induce fusion of both suspended vesicles and vesicles site-specifically tethered to SLBs. 2. DNA Analysis of PCR-Inhibitory Forensic Samples
Abstract : DNA evidence, linking perpetrators to crime scenes, is central to many legal proceedings. However, crime scene samples often contain extraneous substances that may interfere with the PCR-based forensic analysis, resulting in partial or negative DNA profiles. Extensive DNA purification may remove inhibitors, but involves the risk of DNA loss. READ MORE

3. Overstretching short DNA – Single-molecule force spectroscopy studies
Abstract : Structural deformation of DNA has a central role in many biological processes. It occurs, for example, during replication, transcription, and regulation of the activity of the genome. To understand these fundamental processes it is necessary to have a detailed knowledge of the mechanical properties of DNA. READ MORE

4. Salivary gland neoplasms : studies on the cytoskeleton, the secretory apparatus and the nuclear DNA content
Abstract : The heterogeneity of salivary gland neoplasms have made classification and prognostication of these tumours sometimes difficult, and the introduction of techniques, such as enzyme and carbohydrate histochemistry and electron microscopy have only to a certain extent increased our knowledge in these respects. In the present study immunohistochemical methods have been used to identify intermediate filament proteins (IFP) in normal fetal and adult parotid glands, as well as in salivary neoplasms. READ MORE

5. Concentrated DNA-amphiphiles Structure, Hydration, and Dynamics
Abstract : The structure, hydration, and dynamics of concentrated DNA-amphiphile complexes were investigated by small-angle X-ray diffraction, sorption calorimetry, and nuclear magnetic resonance. A concentrated, electroneutral, DNA-amphiphile complex can be formed by mixing charge-stoichiometric solutions. READ MORE
