  1. 1. The Wilms' tumor gene 1 (WT1) and leukemia -new insights and further complexity

    Author : Emelie Svensson; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; onkologi; cancer; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Cofilin 1; NDRG2; IRF-8; BCR ABL1; hematopoiesis; Wilms´ tumor gene 1; leukemia;

    Abstract : The Wilms tumor gene 1 (WT1) encodes a zinc-finger containing transcription factor which is highly expressed in immature hematopoietic progenitor cells. A high expression of WT1 and the presence of somatic mutations in acute leukemia indicate a role for WT1 in the pathogenesis of leukemia. READ MORE

  2. 2. Targeting NOX2 in cancer

    Author : Ebru Aydin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; reactive oxygen species; immunotherapy; nox2; nk cells; melanoma; histamine; metastasis; leukemia; aml; cml; kras; mpd;

    Abstract : Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are short-lived, toxic derivatives of oxygen that are produced during mitochondrial respiration and by NADPH oxidases (NOX). By enzymatically generating ROS, the myeloid cell NOX2 plays a critical role in defense against bacteria and other microorganisms. READ MORE

  3. 3. Statistical assessment of genomic variability in tumours and bacterial communities

    Author : Anna Rehammar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; somatic mutations; hierarchical Bayesian modelling; cancer genetics; high-throughput sequencing; metagenomics; personalised diagnostics;

    Abstract : Current high-throughput DNA sequencing technologies have the ability to generate large amounts of high-resolution genomic data. The high dimensionality in combination with the substantial levels of technical errors and biological variability typically present in the data make, however, the analysis challenging. READ MORE

  4. 4. Measurable residual disease and clonal evolution in acute myeloid leukemia with focus on NPM1-mutations

    Author : Louise Pettersson; Lund Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; AML; MRD; Measurable residual disease; NPM1; NPM1-mutation; NPM1 type A mutation; clonal evolution; clonal patterns; subclones; genetic evolution; qPCR; RQ-PCR; ddPCR; deep seq; deep sequencing; NGS; RT-qPCR; old; elderly; MFC; flow cytometry;

    Abstract : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common form of acute leukemia in adults, with mutations in the NPM1 gene occurring in almost one third of all cases. The ability to detect residual leukemia below the resolution of conventional microscopy is crucial for evaluation of relapse risk after therapy. READ MORE

  5. 5. Telomere analysis of normal and neoplastic hematopoietic cells : studies focusing on fluorescence in situ hybridization and flow cytometry

    Author : Magnus Hultdin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomedicine; telomere; telomerase; fluorescence in situ hybridization; flow cytometry; flow-FISH; replication timing; chronic lymphocytic leukemia; immunoglobulin gene; prognosis; Biomedicin; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The telomeres are specialized structures at the end of the chromosomes composed of the repeated DNA sequence (TTAGGG)n and specific proteins bound to the DNA. The telomeres protect the chromosomes from degradation and end to end fusions. READ MORE
