1. Strategies for de novo DNA sequencing
Abstract : The development of improved sequencing technologies hasenabled the field of genomics to evolve. Handling andsequencing of large numbers of samples require an increasedlevel of automation in order to obtain high throughput andconsistent quality. READ MORE

2. Advancing DNA-based proximity methods
Abstract : Cellular functions are governed by intricate chains of interactions between proteins. In order to properly understand cellular biology one must look into, not only protein function, but also its interacting network. READ MORE

3. DNA Analysis of PCR-Inhibitory Forensic Samples
Abstract : DNA evidence, linking perpetrators to crime scenes, is central to many legal proceedings. However, crime scene samples often contain extraneous substances that may interfere with the PCR-based forensic analysis, resulting in partial or negative DNA profiles. Extensive DNA purification may remove inhibitors, but involves the risk of DNA loss. READ MORE

4. DNA vaccines and bacterial DNA in immunity
Abstract : This thesis describes DNA-based vaccination and the importance of bacterial DNA in different immunological perspectives. Intranasal (i.n.) DNA vaccination utilizing a plasmid encoding the chlamydial heat shock protein 60 (p-hsp-60) generated lower bacterial burden and reduced pathology in the lungs of mice after subsequent infection with C. 5. Functional and structural properties of eukaryotic DNA polymerase epsilon
Abstract : In eukaryotes there are three DNA polymerases which are essential for the replication of chromosomal DNA: DNA polymerase alpha (Pol alpha), DNA polymerase delta (Pol delta) and DNA polymerase epsilon (Pol epsilon). In vitro studies of viral DNA replication showed that Pol alpha and Pol delta are sufficient for DNA replication on both leading and lagging DNA strands, thus leaving the function of Pol epsilon unknown.
