6. Bottom-up Fabrication of Functional DNA Nanostructures
Abstract : This thesis demonstrates bottom-up fabrication of a fully addressable non-repetitive network on the nanometer scale, assembled by synthetic DNA molecules. Each side constitutes a unique sequence of 10 bases, i.e. 3. READ MORE

7. Functional and structural properties of eukaryotic DNA polymerase epsilon
Abstract : In eukaryotes there are three DNA polymerases which are essential for the replication of chromosomal DNA: DNA polymerase alpha (Pol alpha), DNA polymerase delta (Pol delta) and DNA polymerase epsilon (Pol epsilon). In vitro studies of viral DNA replication showed that Pol alpha and Pol delta are sufficient for DNA replication on both leading and lagging DNA strands, thus leaving the function of Pol epsilon unknown. 8. Biological Sensing and DNA Templated Electronics Using Conjugated Polymers
Abstract : Conjugated polymers have been found useful in a wide range of applications such as solar cells, sensor elements and printed electronics, due to their optical and electronic properties. Functionalization with charged side chains has enabled water solubility, resulting in an enhanced interaction with biomolecules. READ MORE

9. Recombinant Enzymes in Pyrosequencing Technology
Abstract : Pyrosequencing is a DNA sequencing method based on thedetection of released pyrophosphate (PPi) during DNA synthesis. In a cascade of enzymatic reactions, visible light isgenerated, which is proportional to the number of nucleotidesincorporated into the DNA template. When dNTP(s) areincorporated into the DNA template, inorganic PPi is released. READ MORE

10. Structural Requirements for Selective DNA Binding - Studies on Mono- and Binuclear Ruthenium Complexes
Abstract : Ever since the discovery of the role of DNA as the template for protein synthesis, efforts have been made to develop DNA targeted drugs. One of the major challenges in the design of DNA binding drugs is to achieve selective binding to specific DNA sequences, which is crucial to avoid side effects. READ MORE
