  1. 1. Liver tissue characterization and influence of chemotherapy in liver surgery

    Author : Jan Nilsson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; colorectal liver metastases; liver regeneration; incisional hernia; steatosis; hepatic microcirculation; diffuse reflectance spectroscopy; DRS; sidestream dark-field imaging; SDF; laser speckle contrast imaging; LSCI;

    Abstract : Background & Aims: Primary liver cancer is the second most common cause of death from cancer worldwide. In the western world, the majority of liver malignancies consist of colorectal metastases. Liver resection is the primary treatment for cure in liver tumor disease. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optical Monitoring of Cerebral Microcirculation

    Author : Peter Rejmstad; Karin Wårdell; Göran Salerud; Neda Haj-Hosseini; Kerstin Ramser; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optical monitoring; cerebral microcirculation; diffuse reflectance spectroswcopy DRS ; laser Doppler flowmetry LDF ;

    Abstract : The cerebral microcirculation consists of a complex network of small blood vessels that support nerve cells with oxygen and nutrition. The blood flow and oxygen delivery in the microcirculatory blood vessels are regulated through mechanisms which may be influenced or impaired by disease or brain damage resulting from conditions such as brain tumors, traumatic brain injury or subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). 3. 3. Model-based quantitative assessment of skin microcirculatory blood flow and oxygen saturation

    Author : Hanna Jonasson; Tomas Strömberg; Bruce Tromberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The microcirculation, involving the smallest vessels in the body, is where the oxygen transport to all tissue occurs. Evaluating microcirculatory parameters is, therefore, important and involves the quantification of oxygen content of red blood cells (RBCs), the amount of RBCs and their speed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Stress and immune signaling in a Drosophila tumor model

    Author : Dilan Khalili; Ulrich Theopold; Mirka Uhlirova; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Drosophila; cancer; innate immunity; fibrosis; antimicrobial peptides; chitinase-like proteins; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Cancer cells contain multiple biological alterations that allow them to escape from host surveillance mechanisms. One of the mechanisms that play an essential role in host protection against tumor growth is immunity. READ MORE

  5. 5. Listening from within a Digital Music Archive : Metadata, Sensibilities, and Music Histories in the Danish Broadcasting Corporation's Music Archive
