  1. 16. Towards sustainable solid waste management in Jordan

    Author : Mohammad Aljaradin; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Solid Waste Management; Public Participation; Recycling; Landfilling; Jordan;

    Abstract : Jordan is a country with a growing population that is undergoing rapid modernization. The increased volume of solid waste and associated logistical difficulties, the steady growth in the cost of waste management and the risk to human health are sources of concern. READ MORE

  2. 17. Reactive navigation of an autonomous vehicle in underground mines

    Author : Johan Larsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mobile Robots; Computer science; Datavetenskap; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Information technology; Informationsteknik; Computer and Systems Science; Data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : In most underground mines, LHD (Load-Haul-Dump) vehicles are used to transportore from the stope or muck-pile to a dumping point, and are typically operated by a human who is sitting on-board the vehicle. Generally, an underground mine does not offer the best working environment for humans, and the job of an LHD operator can be characterised as Three D: Dangerous, Dirty and Dull. READ MORE

  3. 18. Rock mass transportation systems in underground mines: consequences and solutions when mining at greater depths

    Author : Bartlomiej Skawina; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : The research presented in this thesis addresses a number of challenges related to rock mass transportation in deep underground mines. In particular, high energy consumption and high exhaust gas emissions from diesel and electric LHDs, the effects of ore pass loss on the loading, hauling and dumping operations due to increasing stresses and increasing costs due to the longer vertical transportation of the rock masses. 4. 19. Urban livestock production in Cambodia : socio-economic benefits and public health hazards

    Author : Gunilla Ström Hallenberg; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Keeping livestock can make an important contribution to the livelihoods of poor urban dwellers. There are concerns, however, that livestock keeping in and around urban areas may lead to environmental problems and increased incidence of disease transfer between animals and humans (zoonoses). 5. 20. Towards Deep-learning-based Autonomous Navigation in the Short-loading Cycle

    Author : Carl Borngrund; Ulf Bodin; Fredrik Sandin; Henrik Andreasson; Jerker Delsing; Juha Röning; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cyberfysiska system; Cyber-Physical Systems;

    Abstract : Earth-moving machines, such as wheel loaders, are a type of heavy-duty machinery used within the construction industry to perform vital tasks, such as digging, transporting, and mining applications. One of these tasks is the short-loading cycle, where an operator manoeuvres the wheel loader to move material from a pile to the tipping body of a dump truck, through navigation, scooping, and dumping.
