  1. 1. Intestinal transport of levodopa : Implications for the therapy of Parkinson's disease

    Author : Dag Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; Parkinson s disease; levodopa. duodenal Infusion; intestinal permeability; positron emission tomography; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi; Neurology; neurologi;

    Abstract : Levodopa has been the basic treatment of patients with Parkinson's disease for the last 30 years. However, with time nearly all patients develop fluctuations in motor performance correlated to levodopa plasma concentrations. READ MORE

  2. 2. On steady waves in two-layer fluids and ferrofluids

    Author : Dag Nilsson; Partiella differentialekvationer; []
    Keywords : Internal waves; ferrofluids; partial differential equation; nonlinear waves; travelling waves; solitary waves; dynamical systems; Hamiltonian systems; non-local equations;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns travelling waves in a two-layer fluid and on a ferrofluid jet. We prove existence of several types of such waves by reformulating the corresponding governing equation as an infinite dimensional dynamical system, where an unbounded spatial coordinate is used as time. 3. 3. Mediated and Mobile Communication for Experts

    Author : Marcus Nilsson; Kristina Groth; Dag Svanæs; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; beyond being there; trauma; mediated communication; mdtm; wearable computers; Människa-datorinteraktion; Human-computer Interaction;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on systems for mediated communication that run on mobile technology. The aim has been to give an answer to the question about what require- ments there are for situation awareness for domain experts when communication is secondary and supports the primary task. 4. 4. Polymorphism in pattern recognition receptor genes in pigs

    Author : Ingrid-Maria Bergman; Inger Edfors; Kristina Nilsson Ekdahl; Kjell Edman; Dag Inge Våge; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; Genetik; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedicinsk vetenskap;

    Abstract : The mammalian immune defense consists of two systems, which are interconnected and co-operate to provide host defense. The innate immune system is always active and detects and responds to non-self without delay. The adaptive immune system has a lag phase, but is more specific and has got a memory. READ MORE

  5. 5. Urban design of winter cities : Winter season connectivity for soft mobility

    Author : David Chapman; Kristina Nilsson; Agatino Rizzo; Agneta Larsson; Dag Kittang; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban form; urban design; seasonal climate variation; winter cities; climate change; Architecture; Arkitektur;

    Abstract : All across the world the form of the built environment is playing a crucial role as enabler or inhibitor for urban outdoor activity such as soft mobility. Urban form can make it more attractive for people to be mobile outdoors and playing a role in the public life, or it can put people off venturing outside. READ MORE
