  1. 1. From Penicillin Binding Proteins to Community Interventions : Mathematical and Statistical Models Related to Antibiotic Resistance

    Author : Patricia Geli Rolfhamre; Åke Svensson; Mikael Andersson; Dan I. Andersson; Karl Ekdahl; Bruce R. Levin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; antibiotic resistance; mathematical modeling; pharmacokinetics; pharmacodynamics; penicillin binding protein; postantibiotic effect; reversibility; selection; community intervention; Mathematical statistics; Matematisk statistik; matematisk statistik; Mathematical Statistics;

    Abstract : Antibiotic resistance has become a major public health concern and mathematical models are important analytical tools for the understanding, evaluation and prediction of the resistance problem and related control strategies.The risk of emerging antibiotic resistance and selection has rarely been a concern in the design of antibiotic drug dosing regimens. 3. 3. Logistics Alliances and Structural Change

    Author : Dan Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : The overall purpose of this study is to contribute to a better understanding of why and in what way shippers outsource logistics operations into partnerships with logistics service providers. These relationships are called "operational alliances in logistics" (OALs). READ MORE

  5. 5. On Derailment-Worthiness in Rail Vehicle Design : Analysis of vehicle features influencing derailment processes and consequences

    Author : Dan Brabie; Evert Andersson; Roderick A Smith; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; derailment; bogie design; wheel-sleeper impact; simulation; deviation; vehicle inter-connection; guidance mechanism; substitute guidance; articulated train; railway safety; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis aims at systematically studying the possibilities of minimizing devastating consequences of high-speed rail vehicle derailments by appropriate measures and features in the train design including the running gear. Firstly, an empirical database is established containing as much relevant information as possible of past incidents and accidents that have occurred at substantial running speeds due to mechanical failure close to the interface between the running gear and the track.
