  1. 6. Modeling of planing craft in waves

    Author : Karl Garme; Dan Zenkert; Richard Akers; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydraulic engineering; marine; ocean; Planing craft; time-domain simulation; design loads; Vattenteknik; Water engineering; Vattenteknik;

    Abstract : Simulation of the planing hull in waves has been addressed during the last 25 years and basically been approached by strip methods. This work follows that tradition and describes a time-domain strip model for simulation of the planing hull in waves. The actual fluid mechanical problem is simplified through the strip approach. 2. 7. Carbon Fibres for Multifunctional Lithium-Ion Batteries

    Author : Johan Hagberg; Göran Lindbergh; Dan Zenkert; Juan Vilatela; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The transportation industry today faces many challenges because of the rapid movement towards electrification. One major challenge is the weight of the battery, which limits the effectiveness of the vehicles. READ MORE

  3. 8. A Study on Sandwich Structures : Development, Mechanical Characterization and Numerical Modeling

    Author : Samuel Hammarberg; Pär Jonsén; Jörgen Kajberg; Simon Larsson; Dan Zenkert; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ultra-High Strength Steel; UHSS; Sandwich; Micro-sandwich; Hybrix; Modeling; Composite; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Legislative demands force the automotive industry to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. At the same time, crashworthiness must not be compromised. A ve-hicle’s GHG emissions, such as carbon dioxide, is dependent on its fuel consump-tion. Lowering the vehicle weight, reducing fuel consumption, will therefor reduce emissions. READ MORE

  4. 9. Lightweight multifunctional composites : An investigation into ion-inserted carbon fibres for structural energy storage, shape-morphing, energy harvesting & strain-sensing

    Author : Ross Harnden; Dan Zenkert; Paolo Ermanni; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flyg- och rymdteknik; Aerospace Engineering;

    Abstract : The transport sector accounts for around 26% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union and United Kingdom. By reducing the mass of vehicles it is possible to reduce these emissions substantially.One way to reduce vehicle mass is to use multifunctional structures. READ MORE

  5. 10. Lithium-intercalated Carbon Fibres : Towards the Realisation of Multifunctional Composite Energy Storage Materials

    Author : Eric Jacques; Dan Zenkert; Göran Lindbergh; Milo Shaffer; KTH; []
    Keywords : Flyg- och rymdteknik; Aerospace Engineering;

    Abstract : Lightweight design is a major improvement path for sustainable transport asit contributes to lower vehicles energy consumption and gas emissions. Anovel solution to weight savings is to store energy directly in the mechanicalstructure of the vehicle with a multifunctional material, called structural battery,which could simultaneously bear mechanical loads and store electricalenergy.
